Things I disliked, talkers and runners.

Please dont take it as a rant.
Today I need for the first time two things I disliked.
I was doing Riverside and one of the group decided he knew all about the mission after we survived by a hair when trying to bypass a tower (and I bet the reason we got so many White Mantle on us was his fault, seeing how he runned to the castle) and he given us directions (funny how I was a lv20 and he was giving me directions) so we could reach the castle but his stategy was just this ... run.
As you know Infusion Runs work because we not there to do the mission, we there to get a armor infusion and then just quit.
Now I can understand why running for the scene would work, we get ressed but ever time we standed to fight one of the undead that block the way he ordered us to run as we very well know those are not assigned to patrols and will never stop following us.
Now we got there, got the scepter and he continued to give us orders, not only he gone the wrong way (into the village) but he keep saying for us to run and we did and a lot of us died.
Now as running for the scene to get res work, you know the last part of the mission does not work that way since there is a boss stuck on the bridge as he does not move, there are no "res scene" and running is pointless (and dangerous).
Anyway we managed to return to the castle (that is now guarded) and I got fed up with his "running" and simply gone into a another way with the rest of the group, he quit (after saying "run" and aggro the door guards that naturaly killed him) and we beat the mission.
Let me put this way, just because someone have a idea does not mean its a good idea ... running past enemies work in about 1-2 missions on the game and if you make a stategy and it fails then you stop trying that stategy.
As for runners ... I mean warriors that run around as elementars are casting firestorm and Meteor Shower.
I dont like saying how to other classes to do their job but if I am laying a AoE I expect it to enemies being on it, not running after the warriors that sould be in the AoE area making sure the enemies stay there.
Warriors would not run, they sould pin enemies on locations were AoE spells are being casted, if they are being hurt they sould remenber nobody (except perhaps Rangers) can help then as they run around.

As a AoE specialist, I fully agree. 5 of my spells are fire based area of effect. The other 3 being soul fiest, flair for spamming, and glyph of lesser energy.

I agree with that statement completely.

Is it the warrior that runs, though?
I was just out questing with an ele who threw Fire Storm at EVERYTHING, ALL THE TIME, and most of the time he missed because, well, many monsters will actually run out of the target area. If I was bashing the monster, my guy would of course follow them out of the AoE.
If the warrior actually tries to run from melee because they're getting pounded, then yes, I agree - that's a bad idea. It hardly ever works.

You know, I really try to do this. Also being a ranger 2nd I have traps, and really get annoyed when my group doesn't set for the pull.
2 warriors in a good set up with a barbed and fire trap set will keep monsters off my nukers and do a good amount of damage and slow monsters that get through.
But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Can I get this going on in a pick up group? No! I mention, I have traps lets set for the pu......where is the other warrior? Off getting himself killed.
When are people gonna learn how to wage melee in this game and block mobs so they don't kill squishies. Or set for pulls. I swear, I've seen squishies pull by running up to the monsters and attacking them...what are they thinking!!
Ok, I ranted, lol, I like going with my guild or henchies.
Teamwork does wonders in a game like this. Some folks just gotta learn this.
Makes ya just wanna shake some people...I hate Aurora Glade...

Yeah, I forgot to mention - that ele I teamed with, he who spammed Fire Storm, he also pulled by running up to mobs and standing next to them. While spamming fire storm. He simply relied on me to keep him alive.
So we had a ranger, and I asked him to pull the next mob. So he did, but not with his long-range bow, no, he ran up to the mob and threw some really slow spell, don't know which, but by the time he got it off he was surrounded.
So I explained to them about pulling. I explained the importance of not getting into melee when you're a caster.
And then both did the same thing again.

Geez, some people.

lol riverside....I always do it with henchies...why because with PUGs, someone always messes up.
So it's faster to do it with henchies.

I've never had any trouble with Riverside. I'm a W/Mo and I did it with a Mo/W and a R/E. Just the 3 of us. We beat it with no problem

Of course people like to cast "big spells" at start and goof, I open with flare and move to AoE spells against static tagets (like spellcasters and archers that dont move much) and return to flare or other spells depending on the situation.

Its not running, its not killing ... its staying away from enemies Aggro areas and killing the occasional few undead that block the path.

There's a time and a place for everything. Running is part of that equation. Really though, this story happens thousands of times a day - the PUG. They suck, play IH - if you can't then prepare for stupid BS like that. Sadly, all the good people are here at GWG and get lost in the sea of idiots while playing. No sense really making yet another post like this - mise well spend the time picking up an in-house group.
Having a SMART (so automatically didn't apply to that idiot you were talking about, we well as most people these days) person running Riverside works. He would only have to run through roughly 4 medium sized mobs to pull you to the first cutscene. Then the party could run to that first boss that waylays your second run. After that you just keep running. The only kicker is that final boss on the bridge - although I saw someone slip right past him the other day.

EDIT:: You do the normal thing with the aggro zones, just the runner is sprinting Then it's a mad dash at the end to the scene.
