What happened to the parchments price? Material Trader buying it for only 200/10. Last time 500+ and i waited to get higher up but now lose money.

You know, I used to think that all those posters saying that threads like these called unwanted attention that would eventually call down the nerf bat were somewhat paranoid. And I'd really believed that salvaging/crafting/selling was the one money making endeavour that wouldn't possibly get nerfed. But they did... it appears that they actually nerfed materials trading.

I've been collecting materials and salvaging almost every drop I get for awhile now, and was saving up all these materials to sell back to the trader when the prices went back up. But now pretty much everything I have crafted is in the red when it comes to selling back to the traders, and no matter what time of day I log in, they only offer 30g for a stack of any normal materials.

Total bummer... makes me honestly wonder if this thread had something to do with it. It's just too convenient that this happened now.

Kali...

Could be...could not be.

If there is any resemblance of a free economy in the game ...as Anet wants us to believe according to the recent text on the traders after the change....the prices will go back up at least some.

I am more and more believing that this is a controled situation that is only supposed to LOOK LIKE a free economy however. They would be able to control it via supply side.....by regulating the drops and such. But, I have seen more and more resently what looks to me to be a "reset" in prices from the traders. One minute parchment is 679/10....3 minutes later it is 200/10 ........that just would not happen in a free economy. Even one that is run between high/low stops as we were speculating before.

....when is the last time anyone saw parchment at 800/10?

I think more and more that this is a game for Anet...."Let's see how many players we can mess with this week" sort of thing. Like I said before....incredible programmers just can't leave stuff alone...even if it works!

I got lucky last week and was able to sell out everything at my sell price....everything except parhment that is. But, there were a number of times when the prices rose well only to drop like rocks to unbelievably low prices....they would rebound considerably in the next 5 minutes...but took some time to get back up to the spot when they would drop again. I think Anet may have lowered the ceilings on the price of materials.

Now, is it because of threads like these? Maybe. In reality, when the prices are really high, more peeps want to cash in on it...making the prices lower. IF Anet is concerned about some peeps sliding through the cracks and the game being too easy for them...they will notice the price of materials without watching these boards.

On the other hand...it could be that threads like these are causing more and more peeps to deal in materials...thereby increasing the supply....which DEcreases the prices.

I guess we will all just have to sit and watch won't we.

When i do the Piken Square run, all i get is those Axe bla bla that turns into Tanned Hides when i salvage them... No figurines at all...

BUTT, should i go to Senetarium and turn them into Leather Squares? It costs much, 5 tanned hides + 50g for ONE leather square... And when i sell the leather squares to a marterial trader in Ascalon, do i really get much money? I mean, is it worth to pay 20 Tanned and 200g for 4 Leathers?

Basicly, is 4 leathers more worth than 20 Tanned + 200g??

Please explain this to me... I need it...

if you are willing to wait,
check regularly for price
and be willing to have the chance they will be a loss do it

2 days ago i unloaded 7 leather squares at 200 EACH then went to the crafter and had him craft another bunch which i sold for 200 as well

when i tried today it was only 15 each so i didnt sell

NOTE

char carvings dont salvage them as if you sell the wood for less than 7 you will come out worse than selling the carvings

PARCHMENT

dont bother now as you will lose money

SAME FOR FIBERS INTO LINEN

Well, if we really did screw the economy with all this....we should be proud. ^^ I'm still working on a way to circumvent the latest issues. If I find one, I'll let ya'll know. Good Hunting. ^^

When you turn your Tanned Hides into Leather Squares you almost dont earn any money at all.... I figured out this:

10x Leather Squares is worth: about 1480g

What it takes to craft them;
50x Tanned Hide's + 500g, wich is worth about 1426g

Yay, we just got 54g+!!

EDIT: When i say "worth" i mean what they cost in city

This thread has helped my finances, i'm definatly one of the lurkers who read this thread and began dumping parchment into the economy. The charr run from piken still gets about 20 hides per and i never have a problem selling them all. I did find a black dye drop recently on that run, which suprised me greatly. Ive been running with a lvl 20 ranger / monk and it works pretty well.

Just a question:

How can you get 20 charr hides on 1 piken run??? I go with henchies, is it harder to find stuff then?

And, do you turn all the charr hides into tanned hides or do you just sell them? I turn them into tanned hides all the time...

Yeah, I go it alone, it is the only way to get maximum hide output. I have a poisoners bow which drops the charr like flies, and with a combination of lightning reflexes, i can poison a mob quickly and finish them off with some ignited arrows. People will buy the hides raw for 50 each usually in ascalon city one of the first 3 districts is usually good for me, since they use them to trade the collector for furs. Some people try to sell the furs for 250 but i think its easier to just sell them the hides they need and roll on. Someone is usually willing to buy me out each time it just takes some patience and a simple trade line like WTS:----Charr-Hides---50g--ea--(at storage)--- .

BTW:

I got 961 for 10 parchment around 2:00am ths morning and sold my whole lot of 40 Now its back down to 200/10 sorry

be ready to run fast going alone at low levels like that.

henchies get the same share as a real person so with 4 in the party you get 1 in 4 of the drops

i turn the hides in for furs and sell them between 250 to as high of 453 a few days ago when i dumped 11

I was under the impression that farming had been ubernerfed, so imagine my surprise when today I found three yellow items, four purple items and countless blue items (in about half an hour). All from the same area. Seriously, it was amazing. I got at least one nice item from each run, and quite a bit of gold. Obviously ANet knows where this is, they aren't stupid, but I'm still not sharing. The drop rate started to decrease after a while anyway, so I'll probably leave it for a couple of days.

I'm not trying to show off here by the way, I'm simply pointing out that if you look for places to farm, you'll find them.

i think anet will allow a certain number of parchment trades at 'market' price per 24hrs, then drop it to 200g. i got 800g for 10 parchment yesterday.

ok, another theory, anet resets the trade rates at midnight, i was selling leather for 160g ea, then at midnight, eastern time, they would buy it for 30g., if by late tomorrow night the price is up again, then i think they let the system build up, then "purge" the system at midnight.

Just FYI. I'm not going ot rant or anything on farming, cause most of you already know my view on it.

It is important to say that you really should keep them private or in your own secured areas on your guilds web-page. why? Well, because when the developers see these posts with detail descriptions of where to farm and start seeing it used excessively, they nerf them. Yes a few in my clan use farming spot... But we publish them in a secured area, not for the world to see. Thus it is securing the spot from quickly being nerfed. I'm not saying they will not be nerfed. they will eventually. that is Arenanets policy now I guess. However we do not advertise it to bring it to their attention quickly.

Arenanet Officials scoured the net for exploits and farming location. almost everyone that had appeared on google at one time or another has been eliminated. However most of the ones that I have seen in SECURED areas have not. Thus... opinion only... If you want to keep your farming spot for the longest period of time... keep it private.

ya but you see hes prolly not giving away his top notch spots,im sure elric has quite a few things up his sleeves...but none the less hes helping other people and thats why hes greatly apprecieated...most spots have been nerfed already whether people are continusleys farming it or not...honestly i dont think the spots are always nerfed, example i was just messing around lions arch and i decided to go n a ettin run...everyone says these things have been smacked with the biggest nerf bat in the world but...i got 5 runes in like 7 mins, three golds 2 purps...my eyes lite up everytime i saw the golds and purp drop,it was great for once GW gave me a break and the runes started to rain...sup vigor-major fire-major divine-and i dont remeber the rest...i sold these and bout me some armour and gusse what im BROKE agian
but thats what this game is all about

I know for a fact that time is not the issue...unless its a random timer. I have been checking at different times throughout the day and night... I have seen prices drop to as low as 20/10 on parchment...then bounce back to about 560/10...and in five or ten minutes be back to about 100/10

I have noticed that the traders are not always offering all items now also. For instance, I just went on earlier today and found that the material trader did not list leather squares or steel for sale. However, they did offer to buy them....the price for steel was 324/10.

I was starting to think that if there were none available for sale, the price would therefore naturally go up....wrong.

I don't keep track of wood...cause I turn that into parchement. However, I have NEVER seen prices for bones higher than 30/10...quit writting it down actually.

Iron seems to be the first thing that is very common that fluctuates enough to make anything on. It is normally about 60/10....but does get as high as 85/10 now and again. (since I have been paying attention anyway)

Over the last few days, whats the highest youve been able to sell parchment for? And how much profit did you make.. Cause i have 500 something wood, and want to know if i shood sell it at 10g each to players, or make it alll into parchment.

ive given up on parchment as you need to sell it for 50 each to make that 10 wood sale which is only 6 profit after the 4 salvage charge

i used to sell parchment at 10/800 but that seems to be gone

if you can get 10 for the wood fast instead of wasteing time trying to sell parchment i would do it

unless you can get a really good sale on the parchment over 60 each

The Material Trader just like all other traders works on supply and demand. Since this post was made more people have been selling materials then before. People are also making there own materials more as well. there for few people are actually buy from the trader. As long as this pattern goes on the prices will remain low...

Thats not exactly true... ALL the prices have been jacked up since they supposubly changed "only the interface" I used to be able to get 15+ each for iron and wood, now i get 4 each for wood, and im lucky to get 5-10 for iron..

Well....thought I would check out the prices this evening. I see others having the same trouble I was. About 130 this afternoon parchement was going for 542/10.....good thing I checked just now.

I just dumped my entire stack...230 or so for 1036/10

....yes....I looked twice...then manually used my hand to pull my jaw away from my desk. But it did happen.

......there is a new wrinkle in there someplace that we just haven't quite got hold of yet I suspect
