Question about faction purchases

My main is a monk/mesmer PvE character through the game. Under no circumstance do I want to mess him up.

My question is in 2 parts:

1) When I buy Skills/runes/items using my faction points do I get actual items or just the unlocks? Cause if I don't get the actual items then my main Asdar can't use them and this has me a bit concerned.

2) Can I buy Skills/runes/items for other classes through the faction merchant? I don't want to switch classes. (This looks to be ok but their comment is not definitive)

If you're guessing please say so, if you have actual experience that'd be even better.

you just unlock the skills/items for your pvp char.

and there are no limitations on what skills/runes you can buy.
