I'm wondering what all effects knockdown has. As far as I understand, if you knockdown someone, their action is interrupted, and they have to get back up before they can perform a new action.
How long does it take to stand back up? Are there any extra effects that occur while you are knocked down? (other than those caused by skills specifically for knocked down targets)
I'm switching up the skills my PvE warrior is using and was considering desperation blow. Being able to do that much damage with only 5 energy seems quite good, but I'm not sure how much of a penalty falling down afterwards is.
Any advice?

Yes, you are interrupted, nothing more. No additional effects other than skills that target downed folks.
It normally takes a little over a second to stand up.
I personally focus on knocking OTHER people down with my warrior, and have never really considered the skill. It occurs to me that balanced stance and/or doylak signet just might prevent any penalty at all, though...

KD is a AWSOME thing to use vs spell casters becasue it also interupts there attack !!

Knocking people down is very useful. It interupts their current action, temporarily snares them, and rends them helpless for a couple seconds. It also makes them a target for spells like Holy Strike which do extra damage to foes who have fallen down.

Stonefist guantlets increase knockdown length for warriors' knockdown skills. I havn't tested to see if it applies to other knockdown skills.
