Hi All,
I am enjoying both PvE and PvP. I am wondering about how to fill my 4 character slots. I have a couple of questions that might help me decide.
1.) Is a really well established PvE character better than a PvP character of the same class, build and skills selection? I am guessing I can find better gear in PvE than the standard PvP selection (otherwise why would people pay for uber items?). Maybe PvEs get more build points?
2.) I read a thread where people suggested respeccing a monk for the big fight with his mirror. I know I get some points that allow me to respec my character. Until I read that thread, I guessed they were very valuable. But they talked about it in a throw away manner. Is there a limit to the respeccing you can achieve on a PvE character?
Cheers,
Pin

Hey pindun,
PvE and PvP have basically the same things at their disposal. There are some things though that PvE players can have an advantage on. For instance when making a PvP character you only have 2 weapons and 2 offhand items you can choose from whereas with a PvE character you could have many more items. Of course the solution to this would be to make a PvE character, buy items, and then transfer them to your PvP character. PvE's don't get more build points.
What is interesting is that people pay for items that are not any better stat wise than worse items. They do this for looks and/or recognition. PvP armor is going to be just as good.
Well technically you will only need 1 slot for your pvp character so you could go 3 pve slots and 1 pvp slot. You can always remake that pvp character into whatever class and secondary class you want.
You only have so many points to respec with, but as you gain experience those points return to you. So in a way there is no limit to respeccing although you can only respec so much at 1 time.

Well Pindun,
Firstly, its pretty hard to make a better PvE character than PvP character. And even then the flexibility of being able to make and remake your PvP chararcter still speaks strongly in their favour. The main reason people play PvE characters is because you can make them look cool with fancy armor and dyes. But yes, there are nice, pretty rare items that are favoured but very rare. Build points are the same. And once you get to the desert area you can change your secondary profession.
Every time you level you get a full quote of respec points (24 I think). Once you hit 20 you keep gaining experience and when you get to the end of level 20 you go back to the start of level 20. At that time you also get more respect points. You can respect as much as you want. But if you have a session of testing out PvP builds you might run out of points.
I nearly got it right. 3 PvE slots and one PvP slot. But if I were doing it again, I'd make sure that my 3 PvE chars covered all 6 classes so I could unlock all the skills and quickly and easily try any of them out in PvP.
cheers,
pin

Cheers, Pin You start with 24 refund points and everytime you reduce an attribute i rank you use one of these points. You gain an refund point every 250 experience points to a maximum of 24. By the time you fight your mirror, 250 EXP isn't very much and is easily recovered. You can use refund points as much as you want. The only limit is when you've used them all up and have to go gain experience to earn some back. You can do this as many times as you want. Just to point out one thing...you don't HAVE to respecc your character to fight your mirror. You may already have yours set up to work just fine. |
