Would it be possible to create a chat channel that officers in the guild can use to talk among themselves, wherever they are?

As it is now, the officers have to stop playing and go to a common area and join a team in order to talk privately, so we use our guild hall. The problem with this is, that as our guild grows we add officers to maintain about a 3-1 ratio of members to officers. We now have 8 ppl in leadership posistions. That means if we add a 9th, they cant join the 8 member team in the hall to talk.

If we had an officers-only chat, we could talk to each other where ever we are in Tyria and not have to stop what we are doing.

Its private, its convienient, and you dont have to keep track of 8 tells from 8 ppl.

I like this idea... in addition to the guild channel have a "Guild Leader and Officers channel" as well.

It would have to be global (server-wide) like guild chat is as well.

I like this idea, too.

Sometimes we feel the need to discuss things, but are in the middle of a quest or something, so we can't all group together.

We have teamspeak, but the server we are on doesn't allow for password protected sub-channels either, so we can never actually hold 'officer only meetings'.

Good idea. (and I'm not even an officer!)

Though I have to say I think the likelihood of seeing it anytime soon is small. The GW chat interface really is incredibly poor. Judging by the fact that not even the most basic improvements to the interface have been made yet (e.g. multiple chat windows, chat tabs, the ability to filter out system spam), I think entirely new chat channels are a good way off.

I also like this idea, they have this in World of Warcraft and it works extremely well. I also think it would be good to have another form of Officer level. Because as it sits Officers can promote and demote people as they wish for the most part, and because its not kept in the logs it makes it real hard for the leader to manage.

The Officers chat idea is great, yes I know this sounds bad but it gives the officers a little place to discuss about the other players without them having to know about it.

Not all people have or choose to use AIM. It'd be the same as IRC... Plus I'd rather not have to switch to an AIM room when I'm in an officer chat while I'm playing in game.

I like the idea. It shouldn't be hard since they have Guild and Team chat tabs.
Just add a Guild Officer/Leader tab.
