Sell back a Little Girl's Cape
Devts-Waver
I just bought a Little Girl's Cape in pre-searing and I decided I didn't want it after words. To my surprise, I could not sell it back, even thought it said the value was 100g! I just wasted 200g on that. Now I know it doesn't seem like much to the higher levels. But when you have just started a charater, 200g can go along way. So I would like to suggest allowing people to sell back the Little Girl's Cape.

Don't buy it in the first place You can get 200 gold (worth of items as well), by fighting Charr in pre-searing, in a very short amount of time. Not that big of a loss.

why don't you just give it to gwen? thats what its there for?

especcialy since you get the tapastry shard. Gonna be a use for it at some point.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention I already did that. So I had an extra one that I didn't need. This is a small thing from Anet to fix, so I don't see why it shouldn't.

Well, As long as we are all on the subject. Can somebody explain to me the purpose of the tattered Girls Cap, and Gwen's broken flute is AFTER searing?
i recently found both of them. and was wondering... since when you first start the Underworld, 2 of those ghosts are talking about finding Gwen. I was wondering if there was a connection there. like.. a quest for 50k xp to give Gwen her stuff back or something. :P

yea, that's a good question; it seems like there IS some strange connection there.

The amount of money involved is negligible, I don't see why ANet should waste any time on it.

It's only 200g...seriously just go to post-searing and you get 200 gold in about 5 minutes.

Yeah, but you can't get the Tap shred in Post!! What really irks me is that after one update, the cape was free, then they updated again to take it back to 200 gp - how many of us missed our chance to stock up on a future quest item.
IMHO, they should just eliminate the rigamarole and let you buy the shred for 200 gp, if they're going to charge anything. It would save me some time.

Oh wait, you mean you didn't design this game and really have no idea how much effort would be involved?

It will be easy because of this:
1. They allowed it to not be sold back.
2. All they would have to fix is simply undo that one small code.
I am not a programmer, but I do know little tid bits of it. All that is realy required is putting a code about a sentence long that says it can be sold, instead of it saying it can't. It is extremely simple.

If you want to present a good reason for it to be fixed, fine. But stick to it. Don't cite "it would be easy to do" as an argument, because that's all conjecture and the truth is you really have no idea.

And since you said you wanted me to have a good reason, perhaps you didn't read the first post. However I will retype it for you.
Reason to change:
Allows the new players to be able to make up for some of the money they spent on something they don't need just yet.
If some1 says something like 'you should not buy it then' or '200g is not alot' then here is my response. Yes, maybe you shouldn't buy that, but how are new players supposed to know? And 200g is alot to new players.
Anything else?
P.S. You never said you knew anything about programming, so why do you talk like you do?

If you must know, I'm a CS major. I'm glad you know BYOND and have programmed your own game in it. Unfortunately, that does not grant you any wonderful insights into this game, not any more than my education does or anyone else's who did not actually work on it at ANet.
Make your other points, great. I have no issue with that. But as I said before and now have the need to repeat, "it would be so easy" just isn't valid. Not here, not ever.

I'm a CS major too, and so I can say with a fair amount of certainty that you DON'T just need to change one 0 to a 1, and you DON'T just need to add/change one "sentence length" line of code to "fix" this "problem". Truth is, they'd very likely have to change several SECTIONS of code just to cover everything that associates with that item, which would take more than five minutes.

Perhaps ArenaNet is trying to do people like you a favor. You bought two Capes, that is your problem. But other people may buy one, and not find a use for it, and try to sell it back, without realizing that it is important later on. Why would you buy two capes in the first place? The problem is, you don't pay attention to what you're doing.
Note: In the time it took to read and post all these replies, you could have written that "five minutes of coding." And yet you didn't, because it requires trained professionals. That are busy bringing us Sorrow's Furnace.
