Been playing with my R/Me and I really really enjoy it, great for PvP, especially GvG it seems, not bad in the arenas either.
Marksmanship- 11 (10+1)
Wilderness Surivial- 12 (10+1+1)
Expertise- 11 (10+1)
Right now, depending on how I'm feeling my skill set is typically
Poison Arrow (elite)
Precision Shot (or hunters shot)
Kindle Arrows
Pin Down
Throw Dirt
Troll Unguent
Rez Signet (or barbed trap depending)
Epidemic
Basically the idea is to be able to piss people off. Depending on whether it's arena or GvG, I go through and poison their entire team, then equip kindle arrows and try to help out with the killing of the target, while switching every now and then to keep everyone under poison. Whenever me or a caster buddy is under attack by several warriors it's throw dirt, and then pin down on one of them, then epidemic to spread it to the other warriors around him, then the caster can run away without any worries, and the warriors usually limp off. Troll unguent for healing purposes, rez if they want me to bring it, barbed trap is basically for running up and planting it either in the middle of the enemy while they're busy fighting and things like that. Epidemic to...you know, spread it whenever I can. And it's nice because it's not linked to an attribute.
I'm thinking of adding whirling defense in there maybe, since throw dirt has a relatively long recharge time.
--------------------------------------
On another note, we got beat a few times mainly because our group's damage output wasn't really what it should've been. (This was just in the arenas but it got me thinking).
What if I switched my secondary over to elementalist, and then cut my expertise to about half, and then chopped off a point or two on wilderness survival so that I could get fire magic up to about 7-8. Then I'd have roughly
fire magic- 7
expertise-6 (or 7, whatever)
wilderness-10
marksmanship-11
Depending on runes I could get those then higher.
Then I was thinking of maybe going through the fire skills, and maybe having something like
Conjure Flame
Mark of Rodgort
Kindle Arrows
Poison Arrow
Troll Unguent
Hunter's Shot
whirling defense
a trap, or maybe throw dirt?
That way you'd basically be able to pull out a staff (I carry a shadow staff around) for +10 energy, cast conjure flame and mark of rodgort, then use poison arrow on someone, they'd be poisoned, take a fair bit of damage, be set of fire, and then you could use hunters shot, normal arrows or whatever keeping them poisoned and on fire for...about 18 seconds. Dealing out some pretty damn good damage, when either one of those ended you should then have enough energy to pick and choose and either throw up conjure flame again, or perhaps even mark of rodgort...and then continue on with the slaying.
Whirling defense and throw dirt would be good incase some warrior came and got on yer ass. Then of course, the trusty troll unguent for healing.
I think this could really be a build to put out some damn nice damage 'eh? A guildmate of mine said they saw a video of someone using mark of rodgort with a bow and it was pretty damn nice apparently.
Just an idea. And it's not like losing epidemic would be that much of a loss, and if I ever wanted to switch back to my previous build I could just pull out the attributes from fire for a bit.
What do you think? Any suggestions?
R/Me help---R/E maybe?

Initially trappers don't do damage without 4 traps and the aid of oath shot, while power builds don't need traps for aid. I suppose you want to combine the two, so your build is a nice mix, but probably too spread out to do as much damage as a pure trapper/marksman

for your mark of rodgort build, you might want to bring glyph of lesser energy to ease the mana cost. mark+conjure and your already talking about spending 35 mana, since neither is affected by expertise. Glyph will bring the total cost of those 2 skills down to 25, much more mangeable, but will still put your ranger down to like 7 mana, not including energy regen. You might want to bing marksman's wager, to quickly gain back all the energy.
This would require you to get rid of kindle, since you cant stack preperations, and poison arrow, since you cant have 2 elites. So basically my advice for the rodgort build is
Poison arrow -> Marksmans Wager
Kindle Arrows -> Glyph of Lesser Energy
your 8th slot, if open, could always be a res sig.

Well it turns out I did decide to go over to a R/E, and right now my attributes are at
fire-8
expertise-9
wilderness-11
marksmanship-12
The skill set I typically use is
kindle arrows
poison arrow
hunters shot
troll unguent
mark of rodgort
conjure flame
throw dirt
rez if I need it.
I was thinking a glyph of lesser energy would do the trick. I bring a shadow staff, though, and since I'm rarely ever the targeted one it allows me to just pull it out, cast mark of rodgort, and then switch back.
Typically it goes---conjure flame + kindle at the beginning of a battle, then select a target and use mark of rodgort. Then blast away, that target typically drops unless the monks turn and focus their attention just on him, in which case I've got enough juice left to typically take out one of the monks. And that's just with normal arrows. I don't even have my last 15 attributes yet so I could then pump up either marksmanship or fire magic another point (or two).
By that point I usually have a fair bit of mana, and can do it all over again.
I do think I'll remove something (not kindle, that's where a lot of the damage comes from in some instances) with the glyph though.

I think that including hunter's shot with a skillset that includes epidemic would be good, as if you can get one person to start bleeding, you can then spread it across everyone in the vicinity...
Just a thought, I haven't actually been able to try epidemic effectively yet, but seemed like a good idea

Yeah either bring a glyph or bring a staff with +10 energy on switch and conserve a skill tab.
Edit: epidemic has incredibly bad range, targets it affect have to be touching.
