Real quick question about pets

I'm a level 7 Ranger and had a pet, however I went on a quest and I died. When I went back to the area, my pet was gone and I can't find "Sparky" anywhere!

The first time this happened, I found him when I went back. Is there any way to find him, or do I need another. It kind of sucks cause I was getting attached the the big guy.

If you just go back to a town/outpost he'll be with you the next time you leave.

That's the problem. He's not there. I have no idea how to find him. I will use the heal spell, and it keeps telling me he's out of range. Any other ideas?

do you have charm animal in your skill bar? if you don't he won't be there till you put it back.
