Extremely frustrated

Somewhere between Boardwalk and Park Place

Ever since this patch, I have had about hourly interruptions of my game in which I lose my connection and Err=7 back to the login screen. This has completely restricted me from partying for missions, and has recently just given me the frustration of my life, as I had just reached a point where I had an advantage over a Optimus Caliph/Willa the Unpleasant duo in Abaddon's Mouth (using henchmen since I can't get a real PT now).

I would REALLY appreciate knowing what the g'd problem is.

I run a home network with a Linksys router, my computer is the hub of the network and uses a cable connection. This is the first string of occurrences I've had with this error, it's happened since the patch.

THANK YOU for any help and I'm now going to maim small animals and perhaps Anet representatives.

PS: An interesting fact when this occurs: If I'm running a Ventrilo server, my clients get kicked off and are forced to reconnect. Perhaps this info would help in isolating the problem. All other internet services (AIM MSN etc) are unaffected.

PPS: I don't always have Ventrilo running when this problem occurs.

Edit: just happened again.. This time about 5 minutes after the first disconnect.

I have this problem too, my wireless router cuts out and by the times its sorted itself out I've been kicked. Only guildwars seems to do it, nothing else, which is strange. The timeout seems to be *really* low in this game for no good reason.

Just an odd question string of questions but,

1) The router is the hub of your network, if its not, then you must be doin some zaney things, you dont need 2 gateways. A Router is a network Gateway, all your systems should be routed through it not a computer. Most of today's routers include an internal switch which controls and routes data, much more effectively then a hub. Not to say there are no instances where a computer might be in front of the router or that the router alone handles your network traffic in this instance. However In this case im going to believe you have a fairly new router and it does have a switch.

2) Are the firmware drivers up to date ?

3) Who is your service provider ?, what is the status of their network ?, are they performing maintance ?, are they having problems of any sort at all ?

4) Did the phone ring ?, I have noticed that with my Linksys wireless router cordless phones in my home often like to latch on to the wireless broadcast signals of my router, when the phone rings, it Interupts all wireless services, but not just on the ring as long as the phone is in use. The solution is to changes the channel the router boradcast on.

5) Are there other services using ports that might conflict with each other causing a collision ?

6) Are your NIC drivers up to date and functioning properly ?
