Ranger Secondary

Hello.
I have noticed that R/Mo is becoming pretty popular for rangers. (Sorta akin to W/Mo ting most of the warrior secondaries). Why is this? I'm gearing towards PvP, so I'm wondering if R/Mo is great for PvP, or is this just because a lot of people like self-heals, and have no real use in PvP?

Thanks

I've seen builds that use the Ranger primary as a stealth Prot. monk, using Oath Shot to recharge the enchantments. Couldn't tell you how effective it is though.

*/mo is always going to be popular for the self-healing.

Edit, now that I think about I believe they use Marksman's Wager, not Oath Shot. Different effect, but you get the picture.

In PvP, I only use rez from the monk side of my R/M. Occasionally I'll use Judge's Insight.

I like to use judges inisght, and from time to time, protective spirit (after I have played around w/ attr) just to keep myself alive a bit more. I think mostly R/Mo = prot. They have enough mana atleast for one or two good prot spells.

I think it's simply because so many people are finding that they need to put all their attribute points into Expertise/Marksmanship/Wilderness Survival to make a good bow Ranger that they're going pure Ranger and just take Monk secondary for res. Rangers are good for carrying res, as they tend to be one of the last standing.

Judge's insight is great though, so I'm sure that not all are doing it just for res.

I see...yes Judge's Insight does seem pretty good with ranged attacks. Would you say that a ranger's general purpose in PvP is to distrupt caster and/or deal lots of damage? I'm trying to decide between R/Me and R/Mo...

R/Mo is for damage. Thats good for arena. R/Me is for disruption and denial. Thats better for HoH.

R/Me

I play an R/Mo in PvE and R/Me in PvP.
Judges Insight+Barrage+Lightning Reflexes, Orison|Breeze, Rebirth, Mending

This build dishes out a lot of damage and is almost completely independent of healers.

This build dishes out a lot of damage and is almost completely independent of healers. Tiger's Fury is vastly superior to Lightning Reflexes for this combo.

And you don't need high beastmastery for it at all. Put 3 points in beastmastery, get a +1 rune, and you'll be able to maintain a 33% attack speed boost for 7 out of every 10 seconds.

Of course, this may not work for you since you're murdering your energy regen with Mending (bleh), although maybe a Zealous string can help compensate.

I personally think Mending is total crap, but we won't get into that here.

Actually R/Mo is for Barrage, primarily, as well as rez. R/E is for damage, and R/Me can be for either energy denial or disruption. I think any enchantments that reduce regen are crap, since rangers are... rangers, and aren't targeted until they're the last one standing.

Enigmatics you said that R/Mo is primarily for Barrage and Res and R/El is for damage, but wouldn't R/Mo using Judges Insight, Tigers Fury, and a Prep like Kindle arrows or Apply psn, + Dual shot or penetrating arrow do similar damage as R/El without being resisted as easily?
