One thing I'd like to see is an interface for items containing more than one upgrade, allowing us the option to choose which upgrade we'd like to try and obtain.
During an experimental series of runs on a certain barrel, I came across two gold items that had upgrades I would have liked. One was a staff with a +4 energy insightful head and a wrapping of some sort. The other was a sword with a +27 health pommel of fortitude and some hilt. I ended up with an average staff wrapping and the hilt.
I'm not asking for a guarantee on getting the item you want. The chance of failure should still be there. But give us the option of making the choice which item we would like, and try the salvage. I don't know if it would be better or worse to get planks or ingots in place of the second item, but I think it would at least let people try for them. Granted the upgrades sell for 25 gold to a merchant, but I'd rather take the chance for the item I want (or get the normal materials from the staff or weapon).
Option to choose what upgrade you want to salvage

agree on that, anoying when you find an upgrade you would like to use on one of your weapon and you get the other one ( or crafting material )

This is in no way annoying. When you salvage, it's random. If you always got to choose what you got out of a salvage item there would be chaos. Besides WAY more annoying is having a sweet gold/purple item with a max/ near max upgrade you want out, you salvage it, and get a nice big pile of wood.

So we have this kit that we can take runes out/off of armor and clothing items with 100% accuracy, but we just randomly dismantle everything else?

I actually hate how the system is now flooded with traders for runes and crap. It actually gave me a reason to play the game to have to go out and farm for upgrades or money to purchase them from other players. The value of items in this game has dropped horribly because of ANet's response to people bickering about not getting things. They should have implemented this "reward" system before they introduced the traders that made some superior runes less than 300 gold.
I think that instead of worrying about one or two peoples pet annoyances, we should focus on the issues that ALL of us are annoyed by. Maybe then ANet would actually get something done....
