The preversion of Favor, the errors of Worlds at War

I think silvertemplar's idea is excellent and that he was obviously just using colors as an example. It would be simple enough to invent words without connotations. To prevent people from choosing only the winning side, the choice could be random.
I also agree that Anet goofed here. They've been so great about correcting goofs, I hope they fix this one. As I've said here twice before, racism is never acceptable. Period.

When WaW was first implemented, quite alot of people dislike the concept casted their doubts. It wasn't really tested and everything looks good only on paper. They even allowed all the worlds access to UW and FoW no matter which world was holding the favour at that time. I supposed it was too late to change anything back then since release was near.
Fast forward to now, I still think its a bad implementation of a promising idea. Having fictional factions would be one way of dealing with all the remarks thrown around when another world won favour. But no matter what, someone will still end up with the short end of the stick. One faction will end up having favour the least.

Well, no solution is ever perfect but just like in real life, we can do the best we can with what we've got, making adjustments as they become apparent.

I know that when I see Koreans in the tombs, I will so "Oh, crap, it's Koreans", no im not thinking anything racist...I just know they often times have good builds and are very good at PvP.
Like has been stated, the color and color system just wouldn't work any better than the current system. When a team has a majority of one side, that team becomes known as the Korean, American, or European side.
No, the current system is not flawed, dont you think that the DEVs have done a great enough job on this system? It's not the DEVs that created the problem, its us and the sad racism that is so prevelant in our community. Why not add a reporting function to the game? Report those being racist, hopefully resulting in a banned account. Sure, they can just buy another and come back the same they left, but...that would be another $50 down the drain, we could just report them again, and again...however many times we needed to. This report feature would not only be useful for racist people, but disrespectful people in general, I know that I've met many people while participating in arenas that need to grow up and learn that we arent just characters in a game. Behind those characters are real people with real feelings, and that is something everyone in the game needs to realize.

Now if you'd said 'i find the PvE at ToA fun' then that's fair enough - I'd argue that for it to remain fun access should be restricted so that it doesn't get boring.
As it is, a lot of the moaning seems to be that you can't farm cool looking items to fleece newbs with.

Personaly I would have divided the favor into the five gods in the game, the team that won would recive that god favor and unlock that god realm for free and all the other realms would require payment (so we dont get in a situation were half the teams would select the same god and pretty muck lock away the other maps for a extensive amount of time).
Altars are designed to be gold sinks, favor remove their ability to be gold sinks and so they must be reset to their original purpose ... being a gold sin.

Lets ask this question:
We've now read some flaws in the current system.
How could it get any worse by switching to fictional factions?
Try to think of the idea like different races in other games. You've got your humans and your demons, or your humans, dwarves, and elves. When you start up the game you get to choose which race to join with each character.
Why not have that? And PvP only characters could play for whichever faction they wanted to. I don't think it would get out of hand or uneven with one faction winning by any means, if anything it would balance it out and make it more competitive at all times of the day.
Afterall, fictional regions can't get any WORSE than the current system, it can only make things better.
And no, to those who think then you'll have rascism within your own faction, you'd be surprised. And there would still be language-districtst anyway.

There would be loads who complain from the onset that there was no problem with the current system, it would be a pretty serious and sudden problem. But as I said, if a series of steps over the course of a couple months were introduced to slowly increase the rewards of faction vs. faction and slowly downplay the rewards of nation vs. nation...
