I have been playign this game since the beta testing begun back in october 2004 (meaning I have had the chance to play all classes as primary and secondary), there have been alot of changes since then lol. Just about the only thing i dissagree on the weapons section of the website is that staves are usefull. If you wish to have more health then use a staff, more energy use a wand and an off hand item. For elementalists staves are better because, if you max out energy storage, you should have about 85 energy which is almost two times that of any other profession in the game (depending on the items they hold). Therfore you do not need an offhand item to boost your already massive energy load, so use a staff, put staff wrapping of fortitude and a hale staff head on (both +30 which is max), and have +60 health to your name.
Note: Wands and all off hand items CANNOT be upgraded with ANY items (ex: staff wrappings, heads, etc...)
P.S. While alot of elemantalist spells do cost quite a bit of energy (meaning you may want more) if you are not earth (which has many high-cost spells) and have glyph of energy (costs 5 energy, next spell costs 25 less energy to cast) and/or glyph of lesser energy (costs 5 energy, next spell costs 15 less energy to cast) then 85 energy should be more than adaquate to castall the spells you need.
