Keyboard configuration for left-handers?
WolfpackEE
The ability to strafe will be very important for combat. As a left-hander I typically remap the WASD keys for movement to the arrow keys. However, there is no good place to map the strafe keys to if I use the arrow keys. What do other lefthanders do for strafe/movement?

I use the mouse with my right hand, because I know I can move around the keyboard a lot faster with my left.
Edit* I use the WASD keys for movement.

So you're using your mouse with left hand? That's just wierd... What if you're at a friends house or in a library or whatever?
I'm left-handed...btw
edit: play with numpad then... instead of arrows

Yes, I use the mouse with my left-hand. Most lefties I know do...so it's not 'weird' If I'm sitting at PC thats setup for a righty, I can use it that way, but I'm more proficient using the mouse with my left hand.
So I should rephrase my question...for those who use a mouse in their left hand, how do you map your movement/strafe keys?

Left-handed people will inheret the eart!
I use the arrow keys mainly, haven't found a good way to strafe yet, I tried to config the number pad, but everytime I try to map a key, it says I'm pushing shift. Weird...

Just curious to see how other people handle it.

what about home/del/end/pg down for direction and insert/pg up for strafe?

That might actually be a good idea, I'll have to try that tomorrow

The mouse belongs to the left hand of course
In all my games I use the numpad keys for movement - 8456 instead of WASD, 79 turn, the right thumb is over the -> key of the cursor block so -> and 0 are jump/duck (in GW not needed - maybe I'll find something else) and /*-+ are used for targeting.
Someone was curious what to do at a friends PC. Simple - I use the right hand for the mouse but I'll not play there without reconfiguring the mouse!!! (always fun when I leave )
Important: Index finger always at mouse key 1 and middle finger is always at mouse key 2 regardless if left or right. Confused? Not me

I've been a big fan of the numberpad but there are limitations. I still can't force myself to go to a standard WASD setup though. You get less keys to play with on the numpad, they never come pre-mapped, most laptops don't include them or they're a pain to set up and as a monk, I need F1-F8 to target teammates which just doesn't work on a numpad.
The biggest drawback is that a fair amount of keyboards can't recognize more than two simultaneous numpad keystrokes. That might not be too big an issue with Guild Wars depending on how much you use the numpad but it does impede play on a first person shooter. I haven't found the strafe functionality to be too effective as your sidestep is way too slow to be of much use and it usually contributes to the over two keystrokes issue.

Also, if you have the extra $$, I would recommend one of these. It beats Nostromo hands down. All keys are macroable. You can bind anything on this beast. The only drawback I find for it, is you have to move your keyboard somewhere else. I just place the Tacticalboard and my mouse on my keyboard tray, and the keyboard just in front of my monitor. Works quite well.

I found the strafe keys to be pretty pointless. I use right mouse button + movement keys. Basically that makes it like an FPS. You can use the arrow keys just fine.

Huh I was looking at getting the nostromo n52 but I'll take a look at this now
How's the feel of it? I thought you can program/macro all on the n52 as well?
