BRA guild giveaway

My guild BRA will be hosting an event in the International District 1 of Lion's Arch this Tuesday (July 5th) at 6:00 PM PST. There will be many fun events to participate in to win free items. Granted, the items aren't the uberest, but they are still pretty cool to have. Stuff like Shadow Shields, Chaos Axes, minor runes, Weapon upgrades, etc...

We have hosted one of these events already, but never posted on the fansite forums about it, simply advertised in a couple American districts. We wont be advertising in game for this one, just posting on the forums. So hopefully we will get a good turnout for this and everyone can have a fun time. We definately had a great turnout last time and everyone that participated in it loved it as much as we all loved hosting it.

Someone on another forum asked about what contest will be held at this event, so I thought I'd post my reply on the other threads since it's some valid information that some people might like to know.

Well there's a few contest that we've managed to come up with that have been successful for these events. I myself set up "Hugo's House of Trivia" in which people form a line, and I ask trivia questions to people (pretty simple questions) and if they get it right I give them a prize. We also do a Simon Says type game where people form a party of 6 (so you can communicate through team chat and have it not so hectic) and the leader calls out an emote to do, the first person to do that emote gets a prize.

Some of the other guild members have done other events such as hide and seek, where they will go hide and the first person to find them and dance in front of them gets a prize, or they will run around and the first person that manages to open the trade window with them gets a prize.

We usually like to end the events with somethign big that can be SS'ed to document the fun we've had. We ended the last event with a huge band (everyone formed a circle and played various instruments) and a conga line of everyone that participated (everyone just highlights the designated person and follows them with space bar). With those big events, we reward everyone that participated with a prize, so that everyone can get a prize, not just the person that can type fastest or knows to most trivia.

So try to come and bring a great attitude. Tell your friends too!

What a terrific idea. This is where so-called role play servers could really shine. Guilds could "strut their stuff" for others, give away nice stuff, have fun and probably gain a few recruits as well.

Thanks for making these types of events available and for making Anet a more 'friendly place'. I may have to check it out!

Remember, that the 2 AM is GMT, which means this will occur at 2 AM if you live near Greenwich. So, I hope the people that think it will be 2 AM their time really do live in England.

O.o Good thing you mentioned the GMT thing: I'd hate to see a bunch of Californians (for instance) stay up until 2am and then wander in wondering where everyone was. For those who find GMT as confusing as I used to:

PST 6pm

The event went very well and I think that everyone enjoyed it a bunch. Everyone managed to get some items, and I saw people saying a lot of stuff about how much they enjoyed it.

What made this all worthwhile was when someone mentioned that this reminded them of the betas near the ends when everyone was just going wild, having a bunch of fun. That is basically what we wanted to accomplish, so it really makes me glad to know that we succeeded.

Once us BRA guys PvE some more and get way too many decent items, we will be holding another one of these events. Look on these forums for the announcement.
