I think this was posted before but i really would like it if they programmed like a badge of honour on your name if you have ascended. That way we can group with those people (since there's a larger chance they will work well with a team) for the harder levels after instead of someone who just took a shortcut to get there. I know some people pay to do ascension runs but hopefully it's not to many but at least you'll know there's a big chance that person would work well especially the harder missions when you don't want another 10 year old with an attitude and gives grief to the group. what do you guys think?

well..first of all ascending really isn't that hard, so you will still get all the immature kids who dont know how to work with a team, and IMO it's sad when you have to have a tag to find someone nice...everyone in the game should treat eachother fairly and be a teamplayer...but alas that is a gaming world that will never exist.

it is also another way of saying if i cant have a higher level number to show off give me something else so i can prove i am better than someone without it

exactly, people will treat it as a rank, and lord it over poor new people to the game...(I hate the term "noob")

Would be nice to have some kind of marker to say you got something in the game no one else has

A small star next to the LvL 20 ???/??? would be nice... something like this:

* Lvl 20 Elem/Mo

That is still saying that you have a "l337" type of attitude, if your level 20, it shows you as level 20, and that is all we need

yea, but level 20s that have ascended tend fight and play differently than those who haven't; Ascension doesn't do anything except progress you through the story; you don't feel special after doing it.

I think something (maybe your appearence) should change; ascended characters tend to be alot more "elite" than the ones who haven't (attribute point-wise and play style-wise).

Since Ascension missions are hard and annoying as hell it would be nice to have something to show that I have completed them besides word of mouth.

Well, since ascended people have "true sight" as said by visier kilbraun (most likely spelled wrong) maybe ascended people should have glowing eyes.

once again...many people just want that so they can lord it over others, I think Loviatar and I have said it a couple times now, it's a dumb idea because of all the immature people who would consider it a mark of their "greatness" do we really want even more 12 year olds running around thinking they are god?

Well, if they are running around thinking they are god, when they go into the arena you should be able to destroy them as they are overconfident.

Wrong choice of words on my part . Seriously though, even though they are trying to lean away from that type of mentality and are trying to cut down on that it doesn't make it any less fact that that is how it is.

And there's already too much of this already, even without the bonus rank. Speaking of the Noob term. It was funny to me that the day this game out there was already some using the Noob term..."Um aren't we all?" Anyway, I only use the noob term on those who call someone else a Noob. And that's only to make them mad...which works pretty good.

Nope. I'm not superior, nor will I ever consider I am. Sometimes I do well PvP with a strategy I tried, sometimes they have a counter strategy that works better...I learn from those.

I mean superior as in feeling that you are better in the fact that you don't lord over other people and call them noobs.

I think this is why they made ascension armor. If your very good at the game, earning the money and materials for 15k armor is easy. So That is how you tell a good lvl 20 from a stupid lvl 20. (Probably not most of the time, but I'm sure that's what Anet was shooting for.)

could have fooled me. I've seen plenty of rushers and idiots post ascension. Hell even in the final mission we had a wamo rusher in our group who nearly got us all killed (we stoood back and let him die then continued on our merry way to finishing the mission. harsh but effective).

while i dont like the whole concept of standing out just coz you could ascend that's a pretty neat idea. (and would make my necro look v.cool )

I think this guy has found the answer. But since you guys want to feel special for ascending, which it really isn't, make it so you can't get 15k armor until you ascend. Which means no more noobs who have gotten run to Granite Citadel, wearing 15k armor and then going back to beat up on others.

Solves to not so big problems at once.

You can still be a horrible 12-year noob and get 15k armor, as all it takes is lots of farming/grinding which isn't that hard, just long. And you can get the materials by trading.

Those who have the 15k armor:
a) Have the time to farm gold for it.
and
b) Lack a sense of practicality. The 15k armors give no advantage at all, and the pvp characters you'll be spending most of your time on will not even benefit from the appearance your rp character has.

Neither of these traits is indicative of skill, and IMO they can tend to be linked to the lack thereof.

Currently, people who have payed to be run through Lornar's Pass have not experienced the educational experience that is the Ascention missions.
If you have successfully completed Ascention, then there is a fair chance that you know at least something about working in a team.
Just being run through Lornar's and then leveling up to 20 from killing the stuff around there doesn't have the same educational effect.
I think it would be good to be able to see, at Droknar's Forge and beyond, which players have and haven't ascended.

Glint says we have True Sight after we have ascended, so maybe that could be used to let us see who else has ascended.
Let those who have not ascended see no difference, but to those who have, let there be some way of knowing.

This way, Ascended players can't lord it over other non-Ascended players, but we can see who else is Ascended, and choose them for our mission teams because we know they have at least some idea of teamwork.

after reading all of this, and the glowing eye's bit is really cool. so why not if you have glowing eyes you can see "others" with glowing eyes that have ascended? but to everyone else they won't see anything at all, so then you got nothing to lord over anyone cause they will just think you are crazy. But it's also true that at least "most" of the people who have acsended will at least be playing smarter than the one's who haven't. I really would like to try minimizing my chances of having another suicidal rusher and non listening especially when you do UW or FOW missions and it costs a plat to get in. what do you think of that? seems like alot of the posters here would like something to tell them apart. And i guess as long as others who haven't acsended don't see it (no status symbol to show off to). The FoW armor to me would be like crazy farming status symbols. eck, i'll stick with my draknors for now.

Actually that's a damn cool idea! Not the glowing eyes thing, but think about what True Sight is!

True Sight is being able to see people's true value, the chosen, etc. What if the ascended could see how many ascension missions of 3 a player has done and whether or not they're ascended.

Dunes, Thirsty, Elona

e/mo (20) Da Bomzerz -,-,- (no ascension missions done)
w/me (19) Pwns Oooo -,o,- (Thirsty River done)
ne/me (20) Marble Bear o,o,- (Dunes and Thirsty River done)
mo/ne (20) Eatin Bananas * (ascended)

this would provide us a "badge" that would only be seen by other ascended players, but it would also provide us the actual reward of insight into other players' progress.
