Hey all-

My char is an E/Mo18 but I'm new to GW still considering that this is my first build, let alone first and only non Pvp character. For those experienced E's out there, I was wondering what you would say are the pros/cons of playing an Air Elem vs. Fire Elem. My elem is fire-based, which is probably the usual for most first time elems and first time players, but I have heard some really good things about Air elems. I am not too familiar with the air skill capabilities, so I was hopin for some veteran insight concerning these types of elems.

Fire - Pros: Good AoE, burning
Cons: Not as good PvP as Lightning, Single Elite only good in PvP

Lightning - Pros: Good Spiking against one enemy
Cons: Not as good AoE as Fire

So it all depends whether you want crowd control or single creature destruction.

For me it comes down to Meteor Storm against Chain Lightning

[AoE] fire spells can be interrupted pretty easily, as most of them have >1 second cast times. Meteor storm/shower in PvP is almost a wasted slot if you're being targeted in an arena by interruptors, unless you use Glyph of Sacrifice.

But then... it'd still be a wasted slot.

In PvE, against bosses (only warrior bosses move) or Scarabs (three hit kills), it rocks.

It comes down to which YOU like. Personaly I like fire so thats what I use. I also don't pvp so as fire works better than air for pve thats a bouns.

I've been fire ele for a long time, and in PvE, even if against only 1 enemy, you tear it up. But against several that are spread out you have to get tactical.

In PvP (it seems so far) a fire ele is really little more than wasted space on the team. Too much of our dmg is over time in an area, and too much time is wasted casting which means even if it's not just interupted, they run out when the rain comes down anyway... I'm changing my character over to air to try him out, but I"m gonna do it in PvE so I learn the skills before jumping into PvP.

Wow, a rational pyromancer. Basically, fire is ubiquitous in pve, you easily do more damage then other elements because enemies aren't smart enough to avoid your stationary aoe. Air, pvp-wise, owns. I've made an air ele pve, and I can say that you will have a good time killing bosses and taking out important targets.
