Value of 4/1 vamp string

Please help. I have heard its worth 30-40k from several (i.e. more than 3) people, and I paid 20 for it. But everytime I ask for someones offer and they say "just name a price" they flip out. Even if its for what I paid. This has been happening many times a day, and am tired of getting flames from people over this thing. Should I just sell it to merchant for 25 gold? -Danny Lohner-

the most recent affair with this goddam string is ppl trying to buy it for really low, 2k-5k, and then sell it for higher price. when i confronted one of these ppl DJ mix master or something wannabe gangsta like that, he said it was like the stock market, buy low and sell high. This is bull. and no, you cant have it for 2k FLAMING nathan.
