I know of a few people who never had chance to fighter here due to being out questing and leveling up to high, so there missing the little peice of map that is the arena

So what im suggesting is, in some odd our, for 10 minutes, in some off peak timechanged the level to 10-20, and advertise it on guildwars.com so people know, that missed the map, can go have one battle and complete the world map.

Or, let people enter the arena on there own.

Or just give people who enter the pre arena acess to that map.

As its a shame to see other wise complete Characters missing a miniscule peice of the map.

edit: Just thought, anyone sell a map with the arena filled in?

Everyone else fought at least one battle there then?

I wouldn't mind if the Competition Arenas cycled through Ascolon and Siverpeak areas (the maps, not actually going back there to fight level 10s and 15s). I doubt they'll do that though.

I found the battle arena right away. It's called exploring more.

I also wish I would have entered the arena with a character. I think the pre-fight place should be open to all, but only lvl 10's allowed to enter the mission.

I had my lvl 7 just recently created nub monk in there earlier today, an this lvl 10 W/Mo is chasing me, and uses EARTHSHAKER on me.

WTF??? This elite is from Snake Dance or somewhere, and this lvl 10 W/Mo is using it the Ascalon Arenas!!??!!

Anway she lost, cos she had a hammer and I had reversal of fortune
But still... elite skills in ascalon arena is taking it a bit far..

The problem I think the OP wants addressed is that the staging area for the Ascalon Arena can be visited by anyone, but the actual arena itself is in a different location. He wants to see it 'explored' (non-blurred out) on his overhead map, and the only way to do that is to participate in the arena, which he is now too high in level for.

There's a great and pretty much complete map available on this site, both on the main site (interactive map) and the forums (community works, map project thread), there's no need to 'buy' it from anyone.

Suggesting that ArenaNet opens up the Ascalon Arena to highlevel characters every now and then just so you can get the area explored on your highlevel character is ridiculous however. They're not going to change the game for you just because you neglected to visit when you were the appropriate level, and not getting every nook and cranny of the map explored isn't going to kill you anyway.

How about creating a new character and bringing them into the arena - that's what I do all the time. I have three keepers, and use the fourth slot for practice builds and storage. If anything, perhaps the level requirement can be bumped up to 12, but there's really no reason to complain that you can't reach the arena when you have four character slots available and more on the way!!

That wouldn't solve his 'problem', since seperate characters don't share maps.

All's he would have to do is:

1) Create New Character
2) Explore Arena
3) Take Screen Shot of Map
4) Copy/Paste Area of New Map to Screen Shot of First Map

To worry that he has a blurred portion of a map for a character is a pretty miniscule problem. I never look at the maps in-game. I always use my screen shots - much easier and better that way.

After the start of faction points, the arena in Ascalon is full of heavily twinked characters.

Not to take away anything from your win, but I'm guessing people who twink a character to "pwn nubbs" in Ascalon Arena probably aren't the best PvP players on the planet.

Also, a note to those who'd like the level cap lifted in Ascalon: go to Yaks Bend and fight in the arena there.

Uhhh, sorry mate, but the folks twinking aren't really doing it to be bullies or otherwise "pwn nubbs". They're doing it to farm faction points.

You see, since the recent updates, you do not get any experience for kills in the arena. You'll never level and have to leave the newbie area. You can play 10,000 matches, gaining what, 9 faction or so per bout? I believe you get faction for pet deaths as well....

Anyway, as a result it is now feasible to have your guild-mates run your character to Droknar's Forge at level 3ish, get the end-game armor, and pick up a favorite elite skill somewhere out there. All so you can get some relatively free faction points.

Ah, that explains why people were running around in Ascalon Arena wearing Droknar's armour with fiery dragon swords and elite skills long before faction points were even introduced.

Face it, a lot of people are there with their twinked characters because they somehow get a kick out of cheap kills, or 'PWNing the n00bs' as it's indicated here.

The entire situation is just ridiculous. Either you only face people who did as you did and got Droknar's armour/elites/top-notch weapons, which makes the playing field level again (in which case you might as well just take a regular character to the level 20 arenas), or you're facing regular players who have their Ascalon City armour, their 7-10 longswords and possibly some Piken Square skills who come for their first taste of PvP, and you're basically ruining any chance they get on a fair fight. Farming faction is fine and all, but do it in a way that doesn't ruin other people's fun.

I'm hoping ArenaNet implements a way to make overpowered gear and practically inaccessible skills unselectable for the Ascalon Arena (basically implement damage range restrictions on weapons, armour level restrictions on armour). Dress down for the occasion, or you can't participate. Ascalon Arena is the first taste of PvP people get, it's not very representative given the simplistic nature of level 10 characters but it would be in everyone's best interest to keep it as fair as possible so people aren't turned off simply because they don't get a fair chance.

Rewards points boosted the level of competition in alot of arenas. The easiest to tell for me was competition arena and ascalon arena. Ascalon arena is now loaded with lvl 10's with full droknars armor and a decent elite with the skillset of team arenas. Competition arena used to be mostly pre-made builds/new people just wanting to test it out or not prepared for the level of competition in HOH and team arenas, I could usually find atleast one paladin build in each team and once i faced 4 Pre-made paladin builds. It seems to have dimmered down now, prot monks everywhere and aeromancers/aftershock wars are more common. Ascalon City has practically become a place for the rich to exploit the poor. Shiverpeaks is slightly better because by 15, your skills can atleast match up to the armor... Ascalon arena is not something you should care about even for a complete map-ish feeling.
