How come only one Elite skill at a time?

Maybe devs can group Elites in subgroups, to let us use at least 2-3 average Elite skills from those that are not so uber so we can't make destroying combinations.
Or, at lease allow us to use more than one elite in PvE. Or else there is no point to have so many elites. If you can use only one, why there is 15 elites for each profession? Some of them have even 16-17 elites. I don't see a point in having so many of you can use only ONE at a time.

They made it so you can only have one at a time because, otherwise they are just like normal abilities. They needed some sort of better-than-the-others abilities, and they wanted them to be special, so they limited the amount you can have.
If they make it so you can use multiple, they become insanely cheap, and their is no use in calling them elites anymore, as most elites are just upgraded versions of other spells.

The reason there are so many Elite skills to choose from should be obvious -- it's so that you have some CHOICE about how to make a build. Same reason we need more than one skill in any attribute line. You suss-out your opponent's abilities, and try to put together a collection of skills from your pool to shut them down..
The "Elite" skills aren't necessarily all-powerful on their own, but are limited to one at a time because in combination with certain other skills (elite or non-elite alike), they can become pretty "uber" (aka: Significantly Above Average Elite) and un-balance the game..
Which two Elites would you like to run at the same time?
