Now I know that so many of you probably clicked into this thread thinking that this was a whine/gripe/grief about how GW $UXORZ TEH BIG ONE11 but it's not.

A serious worm attack on my computer has rendered my internet connection useless... therefore I can't play Guildwars. Why is this a good thing? I have been playing games since I was a child, and I have never ever played a game this addictive. I know I have a problem, this game commandeered my life! Spaces grew between laundry and other chores, meals grew more instant, bedtime grew later, my job became more stressful and difficult, my personal work took a backseat...

GW is my drug...

Fortunately it's a very user friendly drug Now that I've beaten the game (storyline) I suffer no withdrawel. True I'm looking forward to going back to Tyria, and I miss a couple of my guildmates, but my house is clean again, my sleep cycle is (almost) restored and I've begun working again on my personal projects. Perhaps "leaving" Guildwars is not the right way to say it, because malware has "taken" Guildwars from me, but after surfacing for a breath of fresh air I have to say this has been for the better.

Guildwars is too fun... too good...

Too addictive.

As with all MMORPGers, most don't have fun playing games. If you're in that crowd, unless you're the best of the best, you have accomplished nothing. However, if you're like me, and actually enjoy playing games, you have achieved enjoyment. Those that don't understand my statement are better off not knowing, but those who are experiencing or has experienced this know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I wish you the best in your future endeavours.

Preach on, Brother.

Glad to hear that your personal life is back in order. That way you'll have more time to play and a longer time before the pizza boxes fall over and kill you at your keyboard.

Seriously though: I went on a vacation to the beach a couple weeks ago. No internet, no games, no nothing. It was fabulous! I slept, ate well, got *gasp* fresh air and all that good stuff. It sort of helped put things back in their proper perspective. Now I play less GW---but more quality---and spend more time with my 3 year old.

i would definelty say that guild wars is way too addicitve for me too, i'm a college student and lets just say it's a very good thing that i got this game over the summer time. However now that school is getting closer i'm hoping i won't be as addicted as i know that my school work will begin to suffer. Becasue honestly when you are trying to decied between wrighting a boring paper and playing guild wars, 90% of the time guild wars is going to win that battle.

I don't know if i would be has happy as you seem to be about not being ablet to play anymore but hey atleast you can find the good side of things, i'm guessing you're a glass half full kinda guy

First let me state I am an avid gamer, I have had an active subscription to at least one video game for the past 10 years. I currently am paying for 3 online games, and I spend most of my gaming time on GW.

I understand the addiction, and I understand your feeling of joy at being free of the burden. WARNING: This will not last, in a few months you will miss the gaming time. You'll get a new game, you will love it. It will actually make your work life easier, sure you want to go home and play, but playing will become a reward. Eventually, youll become obssessed again, and all of this will reverse. Your work will suffer, your family and social life will suffer. Its a neverending cycle. Its good, and its bad.

The point I am leading up to is this, these games ARE addicting, and maybe someone should recoginze that. It surely wouldnt stop me from playing, but maybe the government would at least pass a law so I can get out of work a few days now and then for my addiction!!!

lol! yeah!!! Game leave!

Actually, I bought GW with the intentions of it being merely a bridge to 3 games I'm waiting for in October. Doom3 lasted me all of a couple weeks, HL2 lasted about 2 weeks, I figured GW being an RPG at least, might last me a month or so till October rolls around... but alas... I think that this will be one of those games that I'll still periodically return to in 2 or 3 years.

Incidentally, the October game that I'm waiting for most anxiously is Black and White 2 by Lionhead... I've been a huge fan of Peter Molyneux and this team since I first saw Black and White 4 years ago.

I'm awaiting Dungeon Seige 2 coming out in August but...I was -terribly- disappointed in the multiplayer demo. I can only hope it's not as horrible looking in its final release (DOH--I know it won't be LOL!). But I don't know if even that will be enough to tear me away from GW for long.

Dungeon Siege 2? didn't the original teach you anything? And what about microsoft products in general?

I'm looking forward to Oblivion, but I don't know how I'll have time to play it along with Guild Wars!

I unfortunately know exactly what you mean. First time i realized I had a problem was playing Raven Shield (FPS) and thinking that it should have come bundled withanger management. Ive had a few moments like this with Guild Wars.

For me guild wars is a new kind of addiction... when you type in /age and it says 21 hours since creating this character 1 day ago...

Since I don't work, I've had some pretty serious game-addictive periods in terms of hours-counted, the past 10 years or so. The interest waxes and wanes now...and I've finally reached the point where I play games so little (and don't get very addictive about it) that other interests and hobbies are finally seeing the light of day again. It's great.
So I know the feeling. And it just means that when ya do game, it's that much more enjoyable.

Definitely.

I hate to imply this but, for those that don't go out much, just do it. Go out for a walk when it's a beautiful day. No point of looking out the window saying it's a BEAUTIFUL day, and then just going back to your monitor. Just go out there and take a walk, even if you have allergies etc. Don't give yourself an excuse.

Then come back and play your Guild Wars. You would've only lost 5 minutes or an hour of doing nothing but pharming or chatting anyway, and you can play Guild Wars anytime. You'll find that your experience has been extremely improved and much more enjoyable.
