i know beta weekend starts on friday. Does that mean it'll be open at 12:00 tonight?

It may or may not. I'm sure ArenaNet is hoping to have their servers up for that time, however things do not always go as they are planned. As an example, during the last BWE the servers did not open until a bit past 12:00.
