Okay so like everyone else I have a boatload of upgrades and am just curious if anyone can lend me some insight.
For my hammer I have shocking / fiery / icy hafts .... which is recommmended and why?
I realize that shocking is probably least due to the overwhelming demand of anti-air builds ... I pressume there are many pyros out there too ... so is icy the top haft to load up on my hammer?
Thanks in advance
What Haft is favoured?

I think what element to use would depend on the rest of your skillset. If you are going with Water to slow enemies down, then Ice would be the logical choice. But if you are a W/E using Shock/Gale...then shocking would be better.

Lightning - Pros - Rangers don't have anti-air armor
Cons - Anti-air builds + it seems like most elementalists have aeromancer armor
Fire - Pros - None really
- Cons - Rangers and Elementalists have anti-fire armor
Ice - Pros - None really
- Cons - Elementalists and Rangers have anti-ice armor
Having any Elemental weapon - Pros - Can be used with Conjure
Cons - Rangers and Elementalists have anti-elements armor.
This is all my opinion, so don't flame to much please.

Rangers do have anti-air armor. The only element rangers don't have special armor against is earth. But if you're attacking a ranger, you want to switch to a physical damage weapon anyway, as they get +30 against all elements. I use ebon whenever I need an elemental weapon, assuming I'm not using conjures (and hammers are not great for conjures). Out of those three I'd go with icy.
The only reason to use an elemental weapon is to kill warriors and mesmers in rogue's armor, and to bypass/take advantage of specific spell effects. Otherwise physical damage is preferred.

heres the thing ... it currently has a fiery haft, I have the other 2 availble to upgrade it as necessary, I don't use a W/E ... i use a W/R ... so the elemental idea of sticking with my profession I wont utilize as I wont use conjure X in conjunction
So for physical damage then are you saying forget the elemental hafts and go with a vampiric or zealous?

If you are not W/E, then going with a ele-haft doesn't make much sense unless your guild is running a special build. Other type of hafts would make more sense then. Zealous would be nice if your ranger skills are energy heavy.
