Due to curiosity and the number of Storm Bow dyeing questions I've seen recently(including one of my own), I decided to experiment with dyeing a Storm Bow to see the effects, if any, they have.
First Experiment:
These are what each dye does to the Storm Bow, not much, but at least it's something. Some of them look pretty decent, others you can barely see.
Original
Red
Orange:
Yellow
Green
Blue
Purple
Silver
And finally...for your easy viewing pleasure...my favorite...
Black

This makes me curious if the change is because you put so many dyes on or if it's mostly because of the black that you added. I noticed minute changes thoughout... so it made me curious. I've heard earlier that people that tried black didn't see that much difference but they could have just not looked close enough. If anyone has a lot of dye that they don't want (hah) it'd be interesting to see one dyed with one black, two blacks, and one with a bunch of random dyes.

Thanks for the feedback though, next I'll try using multiples of one color to see if it makes a difference.

so in this case, that last picture of the Storm Bow is actually just dyed black. |

unless you use a dye remover the second applied dye goes over the original dye...they will 'mix' to an extent though not the same way they would mix if you mixed them pre-application.

I just did a quick experiment:
I had blue pants.
Here's what it looks like when I add red dye over the blue pants:
Here's what it looks like when I used a dye remover, then used red dye:
I conclude that dyes do not mix together when you apply them over each other. The only way to mix dyes is to mix them before applying them.
Of course, it could be different for non-standard equipment (e.g. Chaos Axes).

From what I can see of those screenshots,
Green = Purple, Blue = Yellow, Purple = Green, Silver = White
on the storm bow.
The rest look essentially blue.
As to dye on armour. Some classes it replaces and some classes it mixes.
For elementalists, you never have to use remover, but for necros you do. I don't know about other classes.
