Do you have to restart the compuer after that?

*Edit* You said your drivers are current. If i remember the last drivers weren't good for game. You might wanna go back to like 61.76 or something like that, about 2 driver sets back. Otherwise, need more info myself. Likely someone else help you better.

My wife's computer is runing a Ti 4200 card and I wanted to play Theif 2 as I played Theif 3 and I thought it was awsome so I thought i'd give Theif 2 a shot. Well.. all of the NPC's turned up to be invisible for some reason. I upgraded to the newest drivers, thinking that should fix it. Instead, The monitor would shutoff everytime my wife loaded up Everquest 2, and in my game, Thief 2, the NPC's were still invisible. So. after about 2 weeks of forum trolling, reinstalling direct X, video drivers, I even almost updated the BIOS looking for help, I finally went back to the 6.14.10.6177 drivers .. better known as the 61.77 drvers. This is what fixed everything. I could see the NPC's and Everquest II came up just fine. Until I deleted Everquest, because we are planning on playing GuildWars now instead. So.. my best advice... get the drivers, the big long driver number above is what you see when you bring up advanced information for the video card in display settings.

Nvidia driver archive 61.77 drivers.

And the 66.93s fixed my Nvida lock-up problem.

I've been using their drivers for a while and I'm always very satisified.

Another problem that could be occuring beyond the drivers has to do with the res of the game/desktop. This may sound wierd but if the older drivers still wont work the next thing to try is to low your desktop res. Also if you are over clocking this can happen.

yeah, the refresh rate can make things go bad, try 60hz for U.S. and 75hz if youre in europe.

otherwise rollback the drivers and youll be set .

A new vid. card would actually help you out more. They won't keep making driver's for this card, it's really out of date.

Yeah, and that card isn't really what you should be playing GW on. Get a nice ATI 9800 PRO, theyre quite cheap at the moment, and will last you atleast another year yet.

thats not necessarily true, my nvidia works great on my comp, but you have to remember it also depends on the memory, and things such as that which add to performance, also if your comp is good enough, you could download coolbits and overclock the vid card giving it that extra boost it needs .

also, ive heard that using other card drivers (mixing and matching say ati with nvidia) works quite well in some cases, but im not too sure about that seeing as ive never tried it, but if anyone else has, post some feedback on your experience with that.
