Wouldn't it be nice for the mesmer to totally drain one persons mana...in a couple seconds?

yes :-d
so that's why i propose an added energy drain elite.
the elite skill would be like a casted enchantment, possibly lasting anywhere from 3-8 seconds (fast casting).maybe this is how it would be typed?

For 3-8 seconds, you drain energy equal to the amount of a spell's cost, whenever cast on a foe. (Fast Casting)

sorry if the description's wishy-washy, i couldn't really think of the right words. anyways, here's an example:

i cast the enchantment, and it would last blah blah seconds. say i'm a me/e. i use lightning javelin on a person, with it's 10 energy cost, so i would drain 10 energy from the foe while damaging it too. im thinking it would work for the mesmers that feel energy draining might be futile.

YES!, well im done.

Uhm... no.
Contra.

I'd just switch that enchantment uber thing on and spam some crappy fast casted spells away. Just too easy. If any spell at all i'd want some kind of invisbility added for mesmers. Something along the lines:

For 2-12 seconds you become invisible towards friend or foe. You cannot be target to direct spells or attacks, yet you still suffer from environmental spells. Illusion Attribute

Or i'd want the Illusion of Haste Spell changed, as this skill is inferior to all other running skills out there.

I believe Mesmers actually had a sort of Invisibility in the works (since there's an icon for it and all - judging from the icon name, it would've been called 'Disappear') but I think the idea for it got thrown out in the same move as when the 'Stealth' primary attribute line for Rangers got ditched for Expertise.

Having Invisibility work like Spell Breaker/Pacifism and such sounds fun though, and wouldn't need any significant game changes - I'd just make it so there's more of a penalty on yourself than just not being able to receive healing/enchantments and such.

As far as the original suggestion is concerned, there's already an elite Mesmer energy draining skill, even called 'Energy Drain'. It drains 8-18 energy from a foe, so if you're interested in designing a new elite, at least make sure it is somewhat balanced to match the strength of this existing elite. As noted, your suggestion would be way, way overpowered.

That could also be a picture for blind.

It could also be a picture for eye, purple, seeing and many more things. What's your point?

It's actually called 'disappear', and shows someone disappearing in the eyes of someone else.

I love how people like to shun and challenge the devs' ideas. Invisibility is a bit impractical for a MMORPG. If you were invisible, you'd still be able to be targetted. If you weren't able to be targetted, you'd be invincible as well as invisible.

Well, Feli's suggestion doesn't say that you can't be targeted (that would've been the typical 'stealth' suggestion, enough threads about that), he specifically stated that you can't be the target of spells or attacks, which is similar to Obsidian Flesh/Spell Breaker, and in a reversed way for Amity/Pacifism.

If this Invisibility worked the same way as Mist Form (you can't take or deal damage from attacks) it should be fine. Give it a long recharge and prevent it from being Arcane Echoed by making it a type Skill, and it wouldn't be overly powerful.
