and if you do come across an idiot that starts insulting you for your build just leave. If they are that offensive few people will want to stay with them

Maybe they could make it where you could show which skills you want. Like only the first 3, then skip one and show 2, skip one and show your rez.

or maybe just make it so that the res sig can't be hidden, it will show regardless of the hidden setting - same for SoCs.

great idea. However you need to take into effect the skill sugguest portion. It would require GW to search and display the skills you have and have unlocked to everyone in your party. Just food for thought.

I think I see you point here.......

The code to allow a party leader to suggest a skill set may be harder to accomplish than it is worth? Also, this would slow down game performance, I think?

Am I correct here?

As stated before, we shouldn't be rushing into this without fully thinking things through. Sure, it'll be neat for the us to see the other user's skills but wouldn't that cause some of the self-proclaim vets to start bashing on players who are using non-normal skills?

In both PvP and PvE, I think being able to view the other player's skills SHOULD be an option. But the second feature on making actual skill changes is not needed. It's your player. Not the "m4d l1337" 24-7 guildwars player.

Wow, this is pretty cool, though I feel the Suggestion part is unneccessary. As soon as people look at yours skills, they will critique you. They will make their own suggestions without a actual Suggestion part. The suggestion part though is what I find interesting. How does it work?

Does each player actually get the list of every skill available in the game for the two classes, or are they given the skills that a particular player has unlocked? I would prefer it is unlocked so that people don't think I have a skill and keep asking me to equip it.

I like the idea. And for those who think they have a secret build, I watch what people use in PvP and PvE, I click on your name and watch what skills you are using. Its not a secret to anyone, I know what you are casting and when, and if you show me you are good enough to deserve my attention of what skills you are using, then I'm just going to sit and watch you. Granted, I may not be able to understand why you are using some of those skills, but I know what skills you are using and I could run around changing attributes and such until I learn what you were doing.

Great idea, and I really appreciate the effort you put into the screenshots and making it look so good. It gives people a way to look at this and know exactly what you are trying to say. Many others could follow your example with their suggestions, and I'm sorry you put so much time into a screenshot for this, but it works, it shows us exactly what you are thinking and we can see how to improve or change it based on suggestions.

Good job. I would love to see this in the game. It could be a great help when doing Fissure and UW runs with people new to those areas.

I don't think this really that necessay considering over time i've gotten a good eye as to what skills people use just by seeing them used in action. It's not too hard to tell when a necro uses bone minions or when an ele uses certain fire skills...right? Also, even if you could see what skills they have equiped, you still wouldn't know how they have allocated their points and/or if they've allocated them to be most effective for what they using most.

This has been suggested as to available prior to entering a mission, not after entering the mission, when it is too late to change skills. This would be highly helpful in the higher PvE and PvP missions and I will give three examlples right off of the top of my head:

1) headed to the underworld, you as the group leader see that your warrior(s) have nothing but offensive skills. This gives you the option to suggest some good defensive stances. Bonetti's Defense is a great skill that I believe every warrior should equip. The MOBs in that area hit for extramely high damage and one of the easiest ways to suceed there is with a wall of warriors that seem to tak no damage, while your Elementalists pummel the MOBs with fire damage.

2) headed to the Gates of Kryta mission, you see that your Elementalists are using Air Magic, you suggest that they switch to Fire to get the extra damage bonus from the Fire Damage against undead. This also applies to the Temple of Ages missions.

3) getting ready for a Tombs match you see that your two warriors have double skills between them (axe rake and axe twist are carried by both of them, for example), you suggest that each takes on off and they communicate as to when each is using each skill (on the same target) to speed the combo and allow the warriors to carry one more skill on their bar.

Convinced yet?

I can think of more. I would like to think that I could tactifully suggest skills to my team mates, however I know some people would protest. But, when a team build could be seen and made even in a PUG, I believe the playing experiace would be far greater.

I would also like to see this for the hench, only not suggest but change some of the skills. Why not ward against melee from a hench ele?

As far as henches go, I dont think you will be able to change them even if this idea goes through. I have a feeling they are cookie cutter builds and that if you take henchies you take them "at your own risk" so to speak.

Second, I want to thank you for putting in so much time and effort into this project. It is not an easy thing coming up with an new addition to a game and working out the logistics of it. I think it is a great idea and should be presented to Anet.

I agree that the hench may be stuck as they are. Mainly because some amount of effort went into the AI for them and I know changing the skills would require changing the AI. However, if skills could be replaced with similar skills this may be possible to accomplish withough any changes in AI.

For example, Fire Storm replaced with Eruption. Both skills would have the same useage, and effect, however in the Fire Islands the Hench would be far more usefull. I do not know if there is a defensive skill equiped with Orian. If there is, a ward could easily be replaced with that skill and used in the same manner.

I'm hoping, one day...........

I know many people have thanked you for your work, but I would like to extend my thanks. Hopefully, A.Net will agree with the majority of the posters in this thread and do what you have proposed. Even if only the "see party skills part."

I see where you're coming from but you missed my point. So I explain it again... Even if you could see what skills they have equiped, you still wouldn't know how they allocated their points and/or if they've allocated them to be most effective for what they using.

Also, some might have skills combos that they feel work best for them...who's to say that you or anyone else's opinion on what skill set(s) I should be using is any better than my own opinion? (and vice versus) I've been given opinions on what skills I should or shouldn't be using...I've found that often times they were wrong. (not always though) My usual way of choosing which skills to use is through personal experience, comparing the postives and negtives of each one, and most importantly...simply experimenting.

Ah very nice! Much better then my previous ideas. There are two other posts related to this idea that would Benifit greatly from it!

One was Suggestion: Announce your skill bar. This was a thread on simply annouceing and suggestion new skill for players. No-where near as well thought and presented though!

The other was International Tempple Of Ages
One of the problems brought up in that post was the inability to comunicate with alot of players. This Suggestion of yours would greatly help with Language communication.

A toggle to allow Party, Guild, Freinds, or All would be great. If you don't want people knowing you don't have to.

I'm all for this brilliant suggestion and I'm sure it's one Anet will impliment in the future.

BTW, could you edit updates such as the toggle and graphics links into your original post? It makes it alot easier for newcomers to your post to see your idea in full.

The view party skillbar's with the option to turn it on/off (by default off) is good. However the skill suggest mechanism seems extraneous. I could make the suggestion by just saying "Hey you probably want to get rid of mending for vigorous spirit."

I really hope A.Net will implant this system, it is great for team work.
Players should also have to option not to display their builds to anyone if they don't want to.
Thnx for the screen, it is a very good representation of what it should be.

i like it alot, glad to see people into this game like myself. i spend lots of time trying new builds farming faction and just helping people with what i know. This would HELP so much for people that dont understand a build or a suggestion at that, when trying to hlp. So, a visual like this would be great. good job keep it up
