Couple of questions about charming ranger ability. I am new to GW so please bear with me.

Can you release a pet? (get rid of him)
Can you charm more then one pet at a time?
Can you charm a different pet?
If yes, what kind of pets can you charm?

Yes, there's a pet trader right outside of Old Ascalon. Give him your pet, he'll give you some gold.

No, you can only have ONE pet. If you had more than one, then your mana supply would dwindle to nothing. =P

Yes. There are Stalkers, Spiders, Moa (tall birds...chocobos!), Bears, Warthogs, Wolves, Lynx, and Lizards.

yes, there is are NPC's who will "take" your pet off your hands and give it to their wealthy patron in Cantha. The one in pre-searing is in regent valley, and the one in post-searing is just outside of Ascalon city.

Nope. If you already have a pet, you cannot use charm animal again.

Yes, only if you get rid of your previous pet.

I don't remember all of them, but there's a wolf, snow wolf, brown bear, black bear, strider, moa bird, melandru's stalker, lynx, dune lizard, elder black widow, and t3h warthog

Wonderful, thank you for the info. One more question (I think). This may be a matter of choice, but is there a difference in the type of pet? Basicly is there a "best" pet?

As far as I know, all the pets have the exact same stats. Although, I've heard rumors that the elder black widow has some armor penetration, or a bigger damage range, or something like that. Since I use a warthog, I have no idea whether or not this is true.

Prima (yes, I bought the offline guide) states that the pets have differing damage types ranging from Slashing, Blunt, and Piercing.

Ok, I lyed, I have more questions. What does beast mastry do other then allow you to charm the pet? is it worth putting points into it?

It increases your pet's damage. Like other attributes, it makes associated skills better. Depending on your build, it may or may not be worth putting points into. It can be useful even if you do not use a pet. But regardless, I do not recommend trying to work with a build centered around your pet.

ok, so how does 11 bow, 9 fire, 8 expetise, 8 beast mastry sound?

Well, I can't really say without knowing your skills, but the 8 beast mastery sounds fine. What I just meant was that raising it really high, such as 12+ for the sake of your pet is a waste.

I don't really see a need for pumping up Beast Mastery without a pet until you get Tiger's Fury. It is the only viable use for Beast Mastery, unless you want to use your pet.

Until you get TF, just pump up expertise as much as you can instead. =]
