bears in lornar's pass by beacon's perch

Did something change recently in one of the updates that makes getting a bear pet in this region impossible? Last night a buddy of mine and I tried it. The first time we reach area with bears we got attack and decimate from all side by too many badies (lol, didn't expect the second and third aggro patrol to come down and up to help). When we came back, bears all dead? What gives? Do the monster kill the bears if we try to charm them?

We then went back to beacon's perch and made second/third/fourth attempts. No bears at all. We walk/ran quite a bit down pass where bears were before with imps and what not chasing us. No bears anywhere, lots of worm poping up and imps/ice elemental, but not on bear or bear corpse like the first time.. Please don't tell me they've removed the bears. Really wanted to get one for his ranger.

yeah bears get dead quick from the AoE cast on your cold lifeless body.

well all i kno is that the animals, (good things) fight the bad ones i see lizards fighting stuff and wolves too, so i guess the bears fought hem and died.

Area attacks, done by either you or monsters casting them on you, and then agroing the wildlife, seen it happen lots of times. Most usually with mage henchies and firestorm.

You need to go with a real party... The charming aggros the bear then the heckies attack and well, its hard to get when its dead. also it would help if you cleared the area before the wurms... once you aggro them its all over.

There were no aoe use by my party or henchie. We made sure of that by bring two tank henchi,healer,enchanter and the two of us. No aoe caster in the bunch and no aoe was used. We noticed the worms attacking the bears as soon as we started to charm them. I was busy with imps and the henchies were busy with rock throw plant guys and ice elementals. Worms sort of just poped up out of ice when bear went from green to red and then all the bears (three other) were all dead when we came back, they were further down than where we started the initial kabang so shouldn't have even been part of the meelay. But when we return, they were all corpse. That was the first trip, the next three times down there were no bears at all. My buddy tried it again this morning, still no bears. Support said it might be a bug so he needs to send them some info and they'll look into it.

I distracted/died against the enemies in that area so the other guy could get through clean and charm a bear. We had one on the first try and this was last night.
