Ranger in Distress!
Lord Garofoli
I am a Ranger/Mesmer and i am debating how to split up my Mesmer skills. I like to have very few attributes so everything else can be higher. I have Wilderness Survival and Marksmanship in my Ranger attributes. In mesmer i want these two spells and a healing one, I want Conjure Phantasm and Epidemic. Can someone help me with organizing my attributes? I would like two or less attributes for Mesmer. Which should i choose or can i atleast have a suggestion? Thanks.

i have recently started a Ranger/Mesmer and also need some advice as to what mesmer attributes will coordinate well with Wild. Survival and Marksmanship. I thought about inspiration for the energy stealing but id like to maintain damage as well. im open for suggestions!!...

if you plan on spamming your ranger skills, get expertise. In the beginning i focused on marksmanship (with a few points here and there in WS, expertise and domination magic) until i got it to 12, then boosted my expertise. the rest i put as i pleased (in WS and dom)

The first of my 4 PvE characters was a R/Me and I love her dearly. I usually keep Marks and Expertise extremely high, Wilderness survival quite high, and have one attribute from the mesmer side somewhat high. After a bunch of trying out different set ups, I generally keep the points arrayed like this:
Marksmanship: 9 + 3 (mask + major rune)
Expertise: 9 + 1 (minor rune)
Wilderness Survival: 9 + 1 (minor rune)
Mesmer attribute: 9
As to which attribute I use from the mesmer side, it changes quite often. I usually have one thing I prefer over others depending on what I'm fighting. If I'm gonna be fighting a lot of elementalists I'll generally use domination (hooray for interrupts!) and distracting shot to keep them from doing much. If I'm against mesmers I generally like inspiration (inspired hex and energy stealing) to keep them on their toes. If I'm against the physical classes (warrior and ranger) I generally like to use Conjure Phantasm with other health degens like poison/bleeding.
With attribute refund points, I can pretty much keep my ranger stats steady and then just switch all my mesmer points from one attribute to another as I need. This's just my play style though. You might find something that works better for you, but I hope this helps get you started.
Also... as was already stated, Expertise is a must for Ranger skills. Troll Unguent with health regen +8 for only 2 energy? lol Very nice indeed. If you're spending next to nothing on your ranger skills energy-wise, it leaves you much more room to work with your mesmer stuff.

For your healing, just use Troll Unguent. It's one of the better self heals, and tied to WS anyway, so no more attribute points spent. It just takes some foreplanning to use. (don't wait till your down to 10% life). Healing Spring has it's uses here as well, also tied to WS.
Epidemic...I don't believe it is linked to an attribute?
That would leave Illusion for your Conjure Phantasm.

Epidemic is rather useless, it has a very small AoE. In most instances where i can bring along noe mesmer skill, its usually backfire since it hurts
