So then wouldn't it be +17 vs. Physical damage, but +10 vs. everything else?

I think for a ranger, a +7 shelter would be the better bet. Giving them a grand total of 77AL vs. Physical and 100AL vs. [all] Elemental. ...Or you could sacrifice the 2 extra from the shelter, and just get the defense +5, giving you 75AL vs. Physical and 105AL vs. Elemental. Think about it like this - Shelter/Warding gives a +7AL and Defense effectively giving you +10AL - but divided between Phys./Ele. Of course these are max numbers. Also, as far as I know, there is no type of attack that "ignores" armor (except the few that add +xx damage, I believe). Some attacks have armor penetration, and holy damage treats armor levels greater than 60AL as 60AL (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong). However, I believe elemental damage is a stronger form of attack than slashing/blunt/peircing - to which I have no idea, and I would appreciate if someone could shed some light on this. Ensign, perhaps? Possibly it is just because some armors are weaker to elemental attacks than others...? All warrior armor, for example. It's too early here right now and my brain isn't functioning at full capacity yet, so could someone set me straight on that? |

Except poison, if you want to get technical. That would be a bow attack/preparation. |
