A couple of (probably silly) questions

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to the game. First of all, LOVE it. But there're a few things that aren't clear to me at all. I've read all the FAQs and many forum posts and I still can't figure some things out. I'd appreciate if someone educated a poor clueless newb.

So Problem 1: I've got a Ranger/Monk who's just hit lvl 7. I think I've completed about 10 or so quests (didn't count them but that sounds about right). My last quest was from the trainer in Regent Valley who gave me a new skill. So here's the problem: I can't seem to get any more quests from anyone. I've traveled all over the map, but no one's giving me any quests. Does that mean I'm ready to leave pre-searing? I'm confused because I could swear I read about people not being able to leave until they're at least lvl 10. I also remember them talking about "Fort Ranik quest" as one of the final ones, but I can't seem to be able to get it. Are the quest-giving NPCs just hidden away?

Problem 2: armor. I got new boots from a collector but other than that I can't find any more armor. I read about crafters but all the crafters I've met don't give me the option to craft armor. They have a list of weapons and focus items they can craft but never armor. Is this normal? Does this mean I can't really get any new armor until I leave pre-searing?

Problem 3: I want to learn new Ranger skills, but when I go to the first trainer in Regent Valley (by entrance) he sends me to the second one (on the eastern hill), and when I go to the second one he sends me back to the first one. Is this a bug, or does it simply mean I can't learn any new skills until I leave pre-searing?

Whew, I think that's all for now... Thank for taking the time to read, and I appreciate all the help I can get.

1: the guy who gives you the searing mission is the first guy you talked to in the game for a quest. Make sure all his quests are done and then talk to him to leave presearing.

2: leave presearing and you'll immediately have access to new armor with good defense.

3: this is normal, there are no more skills for you in presearing

Thanks a bunch! That makes it much easier. So it's normal to leave pre-searing at lvl 7?

Yep, i think the minimum level you have to be to leave pre-searing is level 3. Level 7 is about right.

Don't forget to get Ignite Arrows and Dual Shot from Aidan. I missed that and still pissed.

If you miss a skill, you can buy it from the skill trainer in Post-Searing.

Yeah, but it costs you a skill point, which is better saved for skills you can't get pre-searing (or in post-searing quests).

TrustNoOne, Go to Ashford, see Chantalle the Troubador. You'll get the Hunter's Horn quest, which will eventually lead you to Aidan, who will give you Dual Shot & Ignite Arrows.

You are overthinking the game, which is exactly what I did at level 7 in pre-sear. Your in newbland, time to get out. In the future, you will probably realize its a waste once you have done it, and leave as soon as you do your skill quests, about level 3.

You have only scratched the surface, dont worry about anything yet, it will all make sense.

Good luck.

The one that gives you the horn quest? She is standing outside her house which is along the path (westward) from where Devona and Pitney are.

Ah, OK, I thought she was supposed to be in the Abbey itself. Thanks!

Yeah, the most important thing for a Ranger not to forget is to see Aidan before leaving. Get the Hunter's Horn quest in Ashford from the villager standing by a house near the road to Wizard's Folly (Near Devona and Pitney). That quest first takes you by Ranger Nente on it's first half and then takes you to Aidan himself on the second half. This is an easy way to get both the Beast Skills and Ignite Arrows/Dual Shot, well... the quest is not 'easy' exactly but it's not hard either... just loooong.

just to put into perspective how importan Ignite Arrows and Dual Shot are...I've had both ignite arrows AND dual shot in my skill bar ever since I got them in pre-sear...I'm at Dragons Lair now....these skills are SUPER useful

Thanks again guys, got it!

Algren Cole, I must agree, even since I got those two skills I've been using them together as well, I love them.
