No alliance leader, now what??

I wanted to spend my faction points but the scribe tells me my alliance leader should talk to the ambassador first... But my guild hardly was online this weekend and we don't have an alliance leader. Is there something I can do myself (I dont' want to push my guildies into the wrong alliance)?

The alliance leader needs to talk to a NPC and choose a side - after that's done everyone in the alliance can contribute. If you don't have any allied guilds then your alliance consists of your guild, and its leader is your guild leader.

If your guild leader hasn't logged in all weekend you're just stuck, you can't advance your guild with either faction. You'll have to stick to the amber and other physical rewards.

If your guild isn't part of a larger alliance, your guild leader is your alliance leader.

I only was offered rare materials for faction points right at the start. But now i've lots of faction points they only tell me my alliance leader should talk to the ambassador... no more rare materials offered.

You're not talking to the right NPC then. There's one NPC for converting your faction into alliance standing (the one you're talking to), and another for converting your faction into rare materials.

You are right, found him! But there's no way to use that stuff right now. Anyway, time to sleep and tomorrow the event is over. I wonder what happens to my event chr?

You can sell them for 100 gold each, I guess. Your event character will be deleted at the end of the event.

They were part of the materials needed for teh 15k armour of that faction.
