To start off, I'm all for an honest round of farming and against the sweatshop or "bot" farming carried out by others. I also think that the casual farmer shouldn't be affected by ANet's attempts to curb the professional farmer (even tho I love my new staff from desert bugs).
As an example, I decided to get my Ranger a set of Druid's armor from Droks today. I learned from a Guildie that the best way to collect what was needed was to farm Mino horns, turn them in to the Collector outside of Augury for Ranger's gloves and then salvage them for Wood and Tanned Hides. In less than one hour I collected enough Horns and enough money to get my Ranger his armor.
The above is a perfect example of why the casual farmer should be left alone. My actions didn't directly affect anyone in any negative way.
Now, as for how ANet is gonna protect the casual farmer and deter the gold sellers...I can't offer any solutions. When writing this I really gave a lot of thought into how ANet might accomplish this, but I honestly can't come up with a good answer. I do not envy them their jobs.
Why honest farmers should be left alone..

And did mino farming get nerved? From what I know, they might not drop good, but if you're after horns, they still drop them.

Never said that they nerfed Mino farming...the point of my post was that there are valid reasons not to nerf honest farming. Nothing else should be "gleaned" from a poor reading of the post.

Um, this seems more like the casual farmer rather than anything else. And generally, these are the people that don't notice when 2 or 3 skills that help a 55 Monk get nerfed. They're using thier everyday build and maybe even some henchies. They're probably not using some cookie cutter solo-farming build, and as such, don't notice it as harshly when a skill gets changed a bit.
On the other hand, you then get people like me that think Trapping in the Underworld is fun, and can care less about the drops. So I get an ecto once ever 3rd run or so. Big deal, I'm in it for the fun of it. The ecto is just a bonus.
Beyond that, I'm positive that the guys at A.Net work their tails off trying to figure out what skills need to be changed, and then how to change them without creating another imbalance, or making the skills outright useless. That has to take a lot of work, patience, and constant testing. In the case of Griffon Farming, they changed the enemies. That killed the Griff Farming bots right quick. And a casual gamer isn't going to notice. Well, besides the part that now there's a ton of high level bugs running around, but still.

looks around and chooses 4th floor window over big swimming pool as safest exit from someone who is obvioully mad.
playing for the fun of it....clearly mad (jumps to safety)

My point was that honest farmers, for the most, get left alone. So now you can't solo Griffons anymore, at least, it's a lot harder now... take a team of 3-4 in, and you still make the same amount of money from it as you did previously on your own.
Minotaur farming has not attracted bots or professional farmers, from what I know, hence, skills used for it haven't been nerved.
Trapping in UW requires more than 1 person.. so.. anet sees nothing wrong with it, same with the 55 monk and ss necro farm team.
From what I can see honest farmers are being left alone. And maybe, if that's not the case, we should whine about professional farmers instead of anet?

I agree, to some extent, the honest farmer has been left alone...again, to some extent. November 10th saw a very unhappy player in me, but I adjusted and went from using a W/Mo to creating a M/Me for the sole purpose of getting enough money to buy my other characters the items (mostly mods, because who needs to buy weapons with so many collectors around) that I wanted for them. I had already played the game to completion with two of my characters and so doing this with my Monk didn't seem like too much of a betrayal to the game. I've since seen the error of my ways and have finally decided to actually heal and protect with my Monk (love bonding).
My post, I guess, is a call to protect the casual farmer by giving an example of why there are still very valid reasons to farm that do not affect others.
