Guild Ideas

Ok ok... I'm new, so if these ideas have already been talked about, I'm sorry, but they're in my head and I don't want to forget them so I'm just going to write them down.

First of all, I think it would be a really cool idea to be able to buy NPC's for your Guild Halls. From what I've heard, that is already in the making for Factions, but I mean things like random walking people and patrolling guards. It would give a real feel to a Guild Hall when members are there, and would impress visitors (need money to buy more people, so the more NPC's, the richer a Guild obviously is). Stemming onto this idea, I also thought it'd be cool to have a sort of taxing system. You could buy workers to live in your Guild Halls and work the lands, and as they works, the Guild would slowly get a trickle of gold, and the more workers you have, the more gold trickles into the vaults.

Sub: I also think it'd be a good idea to be able to buy more guards other that the aesthetic ones I mentioned before. More powerful Guilds should obviously be better protected. A cap should go onto how many you can buy though so it isn't impossible to infiltrate enemy Guild. A cap should also go on how many taxable NPCs you could buy so a Guild doesn't get too rich. Also, I think higher rated Guild should be able to buy more guards/taxable NPCs. So if you have a highly rated Guild, you can reach the cap on both types of NPCs, while lower rated Guilds can't buy as many due to lack of influence/recognition/respect. It might also be a good idea to add a desertion effect onto these NPCs, so if you don't do well in GvG, your NPCs have a high chance of desertion. But, I don't think that desertion should happen if Guilds don't participate in GvG that often. While most Guilds GvG all the time, some only do it sparingly. Desertion should only happen if you lose in GvG too often, not if you don't go too often.

But for that to work, one would need a Guild Bank. So I thought about a Guild Banker that all Guild Members could deposit into. The purpose of this would be to keep the Guild rich and influential, and I'm certain an upkeep would be placed on Guilds so money isn't rampant. On top of that, I thought, wouldn't it be great to be able to dip into enemy Guild Accounts? So during GvG, the banker would be present, heavily guarded of course, and if he were to die, then a percentage of the entire Guild vault gets dipped into the opposing Guilds bank account. Neato huh? Or perhaps if thats too easy, there'd be a way someone could sit at a certain location and be stealing out of the vault directly. That way, at the end of the battle, a percentage of the money would go to the winning Guild, and a smaller percentage would go to player that were in battler (if the defending Guild wins, no money is stolen) Another cool idea about Guild banks is that Guild members could choose to tithe their money into its account. That way, members would always be contributing to the Guild.

I also thought it would be a good idea to be able to put statues into a Guild Hall, and depending on what god your Guild puts there, certain stat buffs would be given to your Guild Members in GvG battle. A max of two god statues could be put into your Guild Hall, (like classes) and they would separate into two types, Major/Minor. Major god statues would give you better buffs than minor one, that way if you have, say, a warrior heavy guild with lots of Necro main/sub classes, you get a major Balthazar statue and a minor one to Grenth. I also thought it would be cool to be able to make custom character statues to decorate your halls with. Like making a statue of the Guild Master and putting it in the courtyard, or making a statue of a particularly influential member of the guild. There could be a plaque that you could custom write things in as well as name the statue, (only designated members could change the plaque, for a fee of course) Setting it up would be done the same way you'd create a character, but you could also mess with armor and weapons, and perhaps have poses. Or, you could even do things like add wings and horns onto the statue for effect. I think that the best thing this idea could be used for is to commemorate Guild Members that have died in real life. Sure the Guild Master could put something on the Guild announcement, but after a while, it'd be erased, but with a statue, dead members will always have a little place on the server to be remembered by.

My last idea few ideas don't have anything to do with Guild Halls, but player options.

I think personal houses would be a cool idea to add to Guild Wars. I remember back when I played DAOC, anyone with enough money could buy a house. Sure they cost alot, and the rent was high, but what if you have 4 lvl 20's that have beaten the game 8 times in a row start to finish and have the best armor and weapons you can buy/find in the game? You'll spend you all your money on useless crap, like a house! Houses would be fully customizable with decorations and furniture and gardens, and perhaps some custom emotes like "sleeping", "cooking", "cleaning", and "reading the paper".

Another idea that stemmed from my experiences in DAOC (which means they aren't my idea, but I think they should be Incorporated ingame) is crafting. His involves having a job, like weapon smith, armorer, alchemist, tanner, etc. The purpose is to be able to supplement your loot money with work money, also you could craft your own armor, which would have better stats than NPC bought ones.

My last idea, which I don't think I've seen or heard about in other MMORPGs, so its fully mine (but other people have probably had the same idea), is civilian clothes. More useless stuff that you could buy for you character to give it personality. This stems off of wishing I could sit and chat with my buddies without looking like we're going to depart on some epic quest soon. The best part about this is the ability to have things in your hands, like canes(I know thats a Mesmer weapon, but you'd get different types now! Woo hoo!), pipes, mugs, flowers, musical instruments (which could be incorporated into the emotes already ingame. It'd be pretty cool watching a band get together huh?), etc.

So those are my ideas. I'm sorry if these are already floating in the forums somewhere, and have been gone over many a time with a fine toothed comb, but I needed to get them out before I'd forgotten them.

P.S.

Anything with sub beside it is something I've come back and added onto.

This is many suggestion in one thread, which I think is "illegal" here, and also that they have been suggested before is also a fact so it will be closed soon enough, maybe

However, while in our guild hall (5 members in total in guild and only 3 was online at the time) one of my pals complained about that there were no women in there, noone at all, considering there are houses and all that it is logical that someone lives there (maybe it's the members' houses?) there just have to be a maximum number of npcs, but you get to choose wheter you want a man, man guard, man worker, woman, woman gard or woman worker, right?

no taxes though, it would ruin the allready bad economy

statues are a nice touch, you could have the npcs work on it, the more npcs that work on it the faster it's ready (with one npc it would take 1 real month to finnish) you could pose yourself, you could do emotes but they are in slowmotion (when you pose only) and the you press a button to capture just that pose you want. For real dead players the guild leader could order from the npcs

no houses though, there is no room for them, if they wouldn't be there from the beginning and they rent would be REAL high

civilan clothing, just hope you don't walk outside with them, no. I support this, if it is optional. And that it would dissapear wen you go outside, or make it available only in the guild hall, you go on epic quests anytime when you are in cities, outposts and mission areas

Mugs and that, if its optional, I collect screenshots where I play drums on heads on ppl who are sitting, a big drum that would go through the body would ruin it (hope ppl will sit after mentioning that)

someone must say it.. but most of those suggestion have already been posted before...

but to comment on your guild NPC ideas...
Yes, I think guild hall would benefits from be able to add addtional NPCs to their guild hall (like a guild merchant, more guild-town folks, etc) However, I would disagree on Taxing (GW should not be a gold-orientated game) as well as Guild guards (same reason as before, and result in unfair battles )

But... I would not say no to those two idea just yet... I think it is still possible to add such a thing.. but need a better system/modification to them.

Nice ideas but there is already a post about all this in this forum already. I just saved it lol! So instead of posting in this thread might as well keep the other one alive

From what I skimmed, GVG improved henchies would pommell new guilds. Plus alot of this seems like WoW, cooking etc.... Why play a game to watch your character cook a charr?? Seems as pointless as people dancing all day in the same spot in a game.

I've actually never played WoW, though I really want to cause Blizzard is one of my favorite game makers. I just don't have the money . But, cooking in WoW is a proffesion, I mean the idea of cooking as an emote, just have your character doing something while you're chatting with friends, just to be funny.

Also, I saw alot of comments about "already been done before" and I put at the very top that I was sorry if they had been, but it was 1:30, and I wanted to write it all down before I'd forgotten them and went to bed.

well, thats why only rich GW members would buy them. When I played DAOC I never had enough money to buy a house (but that didn't stop me from going into other peoples houses). Also with the no room for them comment, houses could work the same way guild halls do, you'd warp there, only instead of just your house, you'd warp to a neighborhood. Neighborhoods could be easily broken down into sections if one section gets too populated. I.E. Butterton District 1-5, Hammerhime District 1-5. And it wouldn't be hard to find your house, cause there'd be a warp option, possibly in your Hero's stat box.

of-topic: what is DOAC?

on-topic: well if they were as guild halls so you teleported there, it would be different, maybe they could be storage areas? put your armor on an armor stand, hard for minks and necros with tattos and scars, anyway, could be a usefull storage area

I dont really like the Idea of taxing ^^ would feel more like playing a bad version of Sim city if you ask me, but Guild Banks would be wonderful, and some soldiers around just to get a bit of a feeling, but deffinetly put Flags matching the Guild's Capes on the hall, and in GvG we keep our own capes not colour them Red or Blue.

You don't want the game to be "unbalanced" by the richer people buying more than the poorer ones. However, you could implement it like this:

Have a specific amount of NPC Points, for example, that is constant throughout all guilds. With those NPC points, you can exchange them for NPC players in the game. More powerful ones would have to cost more NPC points; less powerful ones would be cheaper. If this can be implemented, you would also have the ability to position the NPCs.

But the idea of walking NPCs in your Guild Hall is kewl.

Guild Wars was never meant to be based so much on gold and money. Your ideas are good though.

Only if all Guilds can put the same amount. THen yes, it would be a bit of fun gameplay. Although the more complicated games are, the easier to play them, I think.

I don't have a comment on this, although I like it.

I think for player houses you'd need some actual reason for them, and I don't want to have to feed my characters every now and then like San Andreas (My version of CJ on that was impossible, he never ate a thing but was somehow huge and muscly)

I never meant to add having to eat to keep your character healthy or something. I just meant it as an emote, like your character would be standing at the fire and be messing with the pot. Or you'd be chopping up something at the counter. Also, character houses wouldn't really have a point, except to be aesthetic. Buying houses in any MMORPG never had a real purpose to begin with other than flaunting how rich you are.

It reminds me of Suikoden RPGs, you start off with deserted castle as the game progress more and more pepole coming to your castle/guild.

The only thing I want for Guild Hall is training yard where you can play pvp with your guildies. It benefits some new players and will attract many guilds to do GvG later on. Please Anet give us that
