Does anyone take guildwarsguru auctions seriously?

It looked like a great system. So I signed up and won two auctions for some great equipment for my character. In *BOTH* auctions, the sellers never contacted me and ignored multiple emails.

Do people take these auctions seriously, or is it just a joke?

I second that emotion, Trucker.

More than half of the time, when winning an auction, I have had negative experiences with sellers.

I've made several (30+) purchases and only a small percentage have been negative. I rarely buy from people with no feedback and never from people with negative feedback, so that might have something to do with it.

So far I've had good experiences, although I've only bought 10 items at most.

timezones are a pain. I have a few closed auctions where i'm having trouble getting into contact with the people because they live in an opposite timezone, nothing against them, but we're never on at the same time.

If anything, an option should be put into GWG showing the person's server so we know if that person might be difficult to get into contact with.

I've had a 3 poor experiences selling stuff and 1 when winning.

Twice when selling, the buyer turned round and said they didn't want the item as already got one and on the other occassion the buyer said they'd bought something else and never had any gold left. When buying, the person closed the auction early while I was winning, then re-listed even thoiugh I got in touch.

I won and aution but the seller never contatced me, and when the aution was ended he put his item in high end forum. I know that is becasue they have 0 feedback in their account and when they don't meet their "hidden reserve" they just don't care about the feedback they can simply create another. I wonder if they know there is something called "reserve price".

Read the Site (support) forums. According to the admin that's a no sale, leave negative feedbac. The I reserve right to not sell item if high enough doesn't cut it w/ the admin since there is a reserve price system in place.

I've had nothing but good results.

One thing I would like to see is a message system implemented in GW. This would help with the sales, among other things.

Mostly fine for me too, but I'm thinking of including a condition when selling saying if no contact could be made with the buyer at all (email or ingame) within 2 weeks then the sale is void.

Ive won items, spent days trying to contact the seller, only to have the person say they sold the item ingame long before the auction ended. Funny, there is an edit key, and how come they couldnt answer me on the days I contacted them? Basically, its an at your own risk auction system. Some days are good, others bad.

The auction system may not be perfect or even come close to a real life auction. This is because there is no way to enforce the transaction such as taking away the item from the seller when he activates the auction or ensuring a transaction takes place. However It is much better than trying to sell items in game or even in the Trade forums. IMO it is a big help and improvement on any other method to sell or buy your goods.
There will always be problems with ppl changing their minds or whatever so my advise would be to skilck to the sellers with good feedback and avoid ppl with negative feedback (they have it for a reason).
My experiences have been good so far and have bought great items much cheaper than in game and sold a few with just a few minuites work to post the auction, much better than spaming my life away in trade channel in game for hours on end.

ive had qall good experiences so far, buying and selling.

...although a guy with negatave feedbeck is currently the highest bidder on my auction.

i wish there was a way to not accept bids from people with negative feedback.....but we'll see how it goes.

Generally speaking I have found the auction facility and its users to be excellent.
I have only had a couple of slightly negative experiences (one person whose name was being used by a griefer and I honestly do not think it was their fault, the other who has just not been replying to messages).

Otherwise, buyers have been universally helpful and polite. Some time zone differences are harder to manage than others, but if both people are willing to make a slight effort then it can be overcome. My verdict is that the auction system is a godsend for valuable items which are too good to waste but which might otherwise take too much time to sell in game.

I have bought and sold several items on the auction and everyone I have dealt with was great. Fast transactions with no hassles.

The auction here isn't perfect but I prefer it to other available ways to buy and sell.

I've had about 17 transactions - both buying and selling - and only one really bad experience (the high bidder refused to make the trade after winning). And, as a buyer, I've had all good experiences.

That's a pretty good record since, as someone else here said, there is not real way to enforce actions of people who use the auction.

Many relize, "hey this guy bid on my auction and won", 5 minutes later his bud tells him he's being ripped off and or found another auction, same item way higher price. The seller than blocks off all contact, best way to find this out give them bad feedback after bad auctioners.

I've never bought off a european, and being one myself it can make the time-zone thing a bit achey, but its all been fine so far.

i recently started to use the auction system ... (3days ago )

won my 1st auction, the trader contacted me rapidly, everything went well, i hope things ll continue this way

(for those having problems, just report bad feedback and check the seller's, should be fine )
