This is a new one - repeating sound ?

At various times while in GW a certain sound will suddenly begin to repeat.
It starts slow and then will increase in speed and volume, eventually the sound decreases and goes away.

At first I thought it was the same sound, and was something within the pc itself but as it continued to occur I realised it was a different sound from within the game that was repeating.

For example; the sound of the bag of gold that drops when you've killed a monster *ching* then it will repeat as ive said getting louder and gradually softer again. I'd say these episodes last about 20 - 30 seconds.

I do not play any other games so cant say if its strictly a game issue, but I do not have this happen while usong the pc for anyting else.

Any Ideas??

Make sure your drivers are up to date for your sound card. They upgraded the sound engine right before the Factions PvE event to use DS3D to provide 3d sound. So far there's been two update to the sound engine but there are still some issue's there working on.

Try moving the sound quality bar a notch or two and see if that helps (temp solution).

Update -

I actually decided to try working some more on this problem and did something I should have done sooner.

I moved the sound card to another pci slot.

The problem went away. I cant say whether its the new slot, or that it's now been cleaned or is just set into the slot better, but its no longer giving the same odd noises.

Maybe others having troubles might try moving their cards to a new slot
