I know that there is obviously no way to know for sure, but how many competitive missions are people thinking will be available in Factions. By Competitive Missions i mean things like Aspenwood, The Quarry and Saltspray?
While I do believe we only saw a small number of "zones" in the preview, it does seem like we saw a good portion of the Sea / Forest boundary where I would think most of these Luxon vs Kurzick battles would take place. I wonder if the war extends into the marketplace and other distant parts of the map as well? What's everyone think?
I personally would be very disappointed if the whole "battle over control of cities" meant 3-5 places.. i'm greedy, i want like, 15-20
Guesses towards number of Comp. Missions?

If they have too many of them, players will be spread too thin and none of the missions will ever start.

considering the whole map posted a couple of days ago i counted up 22 missions. can't determine how many of them were competitive and how many the oldstyle cooperative missions.
my guess is 7-8 competitive

thats atleast 23 missions, competitive and cooperative.
I dont see any of those 'paired' missions in the city area, maybe those 2 up there in the left upper corner are competitive too.

Yeah spreading to think can certainly be a problem.. it would be cool if somehow they could add multiple maps to the different mission points, so that you get the diversity but don't have the player pool spread out to much (such as random arena, for example). I suppose this makes little sense storywise though, i am in for aspenwood and suddenly seiging something else.

From that map, it seems there are only 3 competitive missions. As each competitive mission require one outpost on each side of the field (which means where the border line are), and only 6 of the outpost met that condition.
Aspendwood x2
Jade Quarry x2
and perhaps the whirlpool area... although I doubt.
However, that can't be sure. Why? Because it is possible there are competitive mission that allow the 2 PvE force to defeat shiro together (whoever kill shiro first is the winner) or something like it. Such as, if the whirlpool is indeed a competitive mission, we still going to need 2 sides of the force trying to meet each other running through the whirlpool.
In the end, we don't really know... wait and see.

Hopefully zero. They weren't fun at all.
Entirely random teams? No thank you.

On the contrary the all random teams is what made me like them. Instant action. If I want to sit around LFGing then I can always log the PvP character on and head out to the arenas.

Same principle.

I'd like the game to offer instant action random group opportunities AND opportunities where you can assemble a group, for when you have the time to do so. I guess that's partially because i often hop on for quick 30 min sessions and if it takes 20 to get a group, well, not worth it. And when I do have a good chunk of time i'd probably rather GvG than any of this stuff anyways. Maybe I should just start running IWAY , quick to find those PUGs
