Hey how bout seeing a Two Handed Broad Sword (Brave Heart Type). This would have the same dmg as a hammer and allow you to use the Swordsmanship Skills. To make it equal though it would be two handed and you could not use sheild. What does everyone think?????/

Great Idea

Are you really asking our opinions then telling us its great?

But no really...its not a good idea, not for the fact it would be overpowered...but just because its pointless and would not be balanced with the sword skills (hundred blades...)

I don't know. I think that every melee weapon class (with the exception of the new Assassin knives) should have a two handed counter part. The admin could tweak the weapons so that they wouldn't be over powered. There's always the payoff of more dmg vs. less armour. I'd much rather have a two handed axe than an axe and shield, and I was rather disappointed that there weren't any when I first played GW. And on that note, I think that there should also be one handed hammer weapons.

but I agree with Beorn. 2 and 1 hand+sheild versions of all melee weapons would be good. All 2 handers would have the slow speed +a slight damage boost and 1 handers would have the fast speed. (except obviously daggers, but who wants 1 dagger plus a sheild that does like, 10 damage? *cough*ogre slaying knife*cough* It would look very strange as well.)

What I really want, is a 1-handed bow. But that'd be dumb.

I was discussing this with a GW playing friend on the way to school a week ago, and it would be pretty cool.. for one i feel that in some cases damage would be better than defense, but i never did like those hammer skills..

We'll I suppose that crossbows could be implamented, and their are such things as mini-crossbows. Regular sized cross bow +dmg over bows, but reduced range and shooting time. Mini-crossbows, reduced range with perhaps reduced dmg or regular bow dmg, but with armour rating of a shield, or buffs that talismans offer. But I do think the mini-cross bow, if made, should have better dmg that wands.

Have you ever been hit by a hammer under frenzy? Now imagine that even
FASTER, with +dmg from the quick charging sword skills.

I have thought this many times myself. There certainly should be 2 handed axes and swords, and even 1 handed hammers. Adjust the speed and damage accordingly, and no problem.

as long as this two-handed sword deals more dmg than a one-handed sword, less dmg than a hammer, and cannot use a shield.
I'll sign

oh and the crossbow isn't a bad idea either...

I'm willing to bet one of the future classes will use a 2-handed sword... anyone want to ante up? I think the Warrior has enough class-specific weapons as it is.

Don't get me wrong, I crave the idea... just should be on something new, not just another warrior weapon.

Within the next 3 chapters. (There arent that many ways to do melee)

And it will not be swordsmanship, it will be something like Great Weapon Mastery.

I think you mean tradeoff, not payoff...

And it wouldn't be a real tradeoff. No warrior in his right mind would give up damage for some armor, in PVP. And, seriously, warriors do not need a way to do even more damage than they do now. That's just... frightening to imagine.

I think this would be on a new profession in chap 3 or something. We get dual wielders in chap 2 so I'm guessing we can have 2handers in chap 3. Just a thought

Just an idea... please dont hurt me...

Well, as I have heard, teh hammer was highly underpowered in prophecies, so ANET has added some GODLY hammer skills, so stock up on those perf hammers while you can get them low.

I'd like to see a big two handed broad sword. A huge Two-handed Dwarven Battle Axe and a One-handed War Hammer. If the Sword can go two hands, then hammer should be a able to go one with a shield.

1. You should try and reach Anet...not NCSOFT...NCSOFT cannot change the content of Guild Wars as they only own Anet, who runs the game.

2. If I were you I would be hoping that they arent reading this because of the overwhelming amount of intelligent arguments against it and the equally overwhelming amount of unintelligent arguments for it.

1-hand hammer lol, sorry, but thats pretty creepy actually (sorry for any spelling mistakes, only got 3 hours of sleep). Take a whole mob of bunny thumpers, give them a faster hammer with Flurry or Frenzy and knockdown/interrupt skills. Glad I dont use magic users in PvP

funny picture you paint. hehe

No, obviously new skills and adjustments would be made. One handed hammers or maces wouldn't have the same power as a two handed. That should go without saying, nor would two handed swords and axes have the same speed as their one handed versions.

Why do it then? Options and variety for more fun.

Edit: Why is it all good ideas for adding fun always shot down for reasons of PvP? Just not make these items available in PvP if it's a concern. Simple fix, tag items and skills that are not "balanced" for PvP use and they'll not be available to use in that game play. /shrug

A simple damage and speed adjustment wouldnot be enough. Some skills would need to be adjusted for they are designed around the speed and damage of the weapon.

Hammer warriors have reduced defense (less health and armor from shield) because they can do KD. Swords have bleeding, deep wound and hamstring.

There are a lot to consider.

My opinion on upscaled versions of current weapons is that they should go into another category entirely. In order for that to work, either a new profession would need to be made, or some form of prestige classes would need to be added.
Example: a level 20 warrior can venture to some far-away place where she can train herself to become a berserker. A berserker gains the ability to use two-handed swords and axes well (well, as in how a warrior can use a sword but a monk without a warrior secondary can't use it properly).
Entirely new lines of skills would have to be added for these weapons.

In any case, it's a lot of work, and I don't see it happening for at least another chapter.
