I have no idea who moderator is, so I post it here.
Some one sent me a private message to sell gold in Guild Wars. Is that acceptable? I mean; Using your forum for moneymaking out of GW?
The message is still in my box. Personally, I don't like spam like that.

Not sure if it's been reported, but I just got a private message about buying gold with a link and instructions on this site. If a mod wants the name, PM me. This is getting annoying. In game spam, now website PMs.

Please forward that info to a super-mod or site admin - we would just be forwarding that info up the chain for action anyhow.

I've had some forwarded all ready. Please don't hesitate to let us know as the member will be promptly banned. We have some safeguards in place, such as only being allowed to send PM's one-at-a-time. Obviously this person took some effort to PM all of you. That's persistance.

For the Record...I didn't POST in any of the threads!

EDIT: Correction..I was speaking of Thread Posts!

I've had this experience also. It was wierd, since I was in a mission when this happened. What I believe happens is these people take a random screenshot in a town of all the character names present(while holding CTRL down), and then they whisper those people who were unlucky enough to be in that screenshot. The names of these people who advertise are usually the typical "China-farmer" style, first and last names consisting of two-three random letters. (random example: Abc Def)

When I received the Whisper, I took a screenshot of it and immediately reported it to PlayNC Support. Of course, they did nothing, saying stuff like unsufficient proof, blah blah blah.

So I guess the best thing to do, sadly, is just to ignore it.

(Edit: Referring to in-game whispers)

Chances are it's a brand new account and they sent messages to everyone in a particular thread.

My guess is that these advertisers pay very close attention to subjects being discussed in certain threads, and they note who seems to be supportive of buying gold through Ebay, etc, then they PM these ones.

No such attention was paid. I got the notorious PM and I have no posts even near any one of those ebay threads. Spammers don't pay attention. They rely on reaching a relative minority through mass-messaging.

My guess is they simply went to the members page or one of the lengthy threads and PM'd everybody whose name was visible.

What she said is correct, I have had several similar experiences.
Some guy was even advertising the web site they sell them on in-game yesterday.

That's true, it does take a degree of stupidity/ignorance to whisper someone in-game about that. Maybe in-game whisper advertisements aren't as common as I had thought, but I did receive one about two months ago while in the mission to go to Post-Searing with my Ranger.

I'd provide a screenshot for proof, but I deleted it shortly after reporting it to PlayNC Support. But it does happen.

I was able to find three seperate incidents where I have either; a) seen someone selling gold ingame, or b) been pm'd with an opportunity to purchase gold online. I know I have received many more, but I only took these screenies. Sorry didn't have time to crop these

I just got one emailed to me via my profile address. Unfortunately I deleted it instead of forwarding it.
