I just started playing Guild Wars. Last night I found my friend online in Ascalon, but this afternoon I'm unable to locate her.
We're both in pre-searing Ascalon, agreed to meet at the steps across from the gate to the lake country (?) and yet we can't see each other.
We can still communicate by whisper. I'll say: "I'm right by the town cryer!" and she'll say: "So am I!" (And we're both pretty fustrated by this.)
Any advice?
Help! I can't find my friend in Ascalon...

i was hoping you had something simple
how about moving to a new area such as the abbey?
also if that doesnt work both of you hit /bug while standing at the *same* spot and send in a bug report on that
thank you

and they were able to get together
you do have to find each other but that is not the same as permanent separate shards is it?

Separate servers is like City of Heroes among others, where once you join a server you can never talk pm visit see anyone from a different server, and the same character name can exist on every separate server. There is no server crossing, period. Here, you can change "districts" which are instances of the same town (or where-ever), which is used to combat a various amount of bad stuff not to be named here. All you have to do is change to a different district on the same server and bam you are with whoever is in there. It's not seamless but in a sense, instanced.
