The HOD Threat!

Sup guys. I kind of wanted to settle the rumors that everyone has been passing around about the HOD swords. From what I have heard, in Factions, +5 energy swords will be dropping like hotcakes, therefore plummeting the value of the currently rare HOD swords. I mean, go into the High End Trade Forum and you see everyone panicing and selling their swords. Are they panicing for good reason, or are they just being paranoid that Ch. 2 will rip apart their storage accounts?

I would personally like to see and/or hear prove that +5 energy swords will really be dropping in Ch. 2. I would advise ANYONE to post here. I want to figure out what people keep hearing and hopefully settle some of these very annoying rumors.

How can we know if only beta is out? We can only give good guesses to wheater they will have a high drop rate.. and I think the DEVS know that it wouldn't be a good idea because it seems to me in factions defense is higher in factions not energy.

You could be right.....but I'm not sure. Hell maybe after seeing the 20/20 Faster cast/recharge using healing spells Collectors WAND (req 9 Healing magic) and the 20/20 Faster cast/recharge using curse spells Collectors WAND (req 9 curse) made me think that everything is possible in chapter 2. I also read (I think) that there's this guy who claims to saw a 20/20 Wand for Blood Magic spells. I would search for the thread but it's not working for me atm. I think he's telling ANET to remove the 20/20 wands because they're overpowering or something like that.

Well one thing is for sure that in chapter 2, expect those high priced "green" items to take the fall.

I can only assume people are selling there HOD swords because of how much they are worth nowadays.

In terms of Factions, I do know that 90% of the stuff you hear is utter b.s. and speculation. I mean people like to make assumptions and when those assumptions get passed along through 5+ people, you get stuff like "I wonder what type of weapons will drop in Factions" into "OMG! MAX stats item are going to drop 100% of the itme in Factions, so dumb this needs to be nerfed"

I haven't heard anything about HOD swords dropping like hotcakes, and I don't disagree that it might be an option Anet is considering (maybe even along with the HOD Axe), but at this point I think it's still anyones guess. Personally I wouldn't trust anything unless it came straight from Anets lips.

Firstly I havent heard anything about new 5 energy swords dropping (apart from a fake rumor) secondly, WHY? Anet wouldnt put in 5 energy swords if it took the out in the first place. I have no idea where your heard "they will be dropping like hotcakes", are you trying to ruin peoples profit? or do you beleive every rumor you hear...As some people said, we only played a small part of chapter 2, no one knows anything for sure.

I'm one of the people selling a HOD sword. But it has nothing to do with speculation on chapter 2 (I may not even buy ch2, so what do I care?).

I'm selling mine because I never use it. I made it way back in the day, gave it to my monk thinking I would farm with it. I just never got into farming, so it's gone unused for all these months. Finally decided, enough is enough! Bought me a Brohn's wand and put the HOD up for sale last night.

Anyway, I played the factions preview as a necro and there are some sweet collector weapons out there! I got the Death 20/20 wand, but didn't notice a Blood 20/20 (pretty sure it was there, though).

As for energy swords in Factions, I'm leaning toward no. They took them out to curb solo uw farming (not that it worked all that well). Adding them to Factions is basically the same as adding them back to Prophecies. Only thing I think they might add is +5 energy pommels.

Wow, m1h4iL. I sense some hatred in your post. If you would PLEASE read my first post with a clear mind, you can understand that I am just trying to get an idea of what people have heard. I am not in any way trying to "ruin peoples profits" as you so eloquently put it. Hell, I have two of these swords myself. So, stop thinking inside the box, and start thinking outside of it. Yeah, I highly doubt they would actually release a HoD-like sword into the economy. They pulled it out BECAUSE it was too overpowered... so theres no sense to keep it in now. Every monk that was 55 farming had a HoD Sword with 20% (or close to it) longer enchant mod and then the -50 cesta. So, they pulled it out (from being crafted) to try and curb what was happening, although they're still out there but very expensive to get.

Lets put it this way...

If I had one, I would keep it and see what happens.

If I didn't have one, but wanted to buy it, there is no way in hell I would spend more than 10K. Seeing how there were off-hand items with 20/20 mods in the preview, I could care less about the HoD sword. It will no longer provide the slight advantage it used to, even if +5 energy swords don't drop in Factions.

There might be a huge influx in demand for those +5 energy above 50% wands now. Just have to wait and see.

If this sword modifer will exist in factions, it would most likely be a rare modifier that would replace the damage modifier. So it could be possible to find a +1 energy to +5 energy modifier. So I would guess that swords with +5 energy would cost more than a 15^50 sword, so dont go around selling your HoD if you are only scared about this (imagine how much a req.8 +5 energy fellblade would be worth). Pure speculation though so dont go saying I am right or wrong.

Well, there goes the Bortaks Bone Claw! When I saw the 20/20 collectors wand for curse magic, I quickly went to the Warcamp and sold my Bortaks Bone Claw and Gordac's Needle for 70k! A smart move in my part I think. Well, atleast I sold it before the prices goes down.

No, it seems as though you want to create more rumors.
Of course, you have no proof whatsoever, nor does anyone elese who has claimed to see one of these +5 energy swords.
And here you are, starting yet another unsubstantiated rumor thread about them. Are you just trying to cause more of this rumor-based panic? In the maket for an HoD sword perhaps?

You won't get any solid responses because +5 energy swords did not drop in the preview, and so there are no screenshots to display. There are only lies and rumors.

Yeah, there's no point in talking about what people "heard." It might not have been intended to be a rumor spreading thread, but since that's all there are, rumors, it's a rumor spreading thread. Closed.
