Reading a thread and seeing if it's possible [didn't get to test it, yet...]

Would a Fear Me Assassin sucking up adrenaline like a typhoon be fatal?

16 dagger mastery
9 critical strikes
8 Deadly Arts
8 tactics
[runes included]

Black Mantis Thrust
Jungle Strike
Repeating Strikes
Locust's Fury {E}
Expose Defenses
Expunge Enchantments
Fear Me!
For Great Justice!

Holy cow. This is for fighting those self/absorbed monks who think that they can stand there and not need to run. [yay cripple!] I think with the boost from Locust's Fury and For Great Justice, you can spam Fear Me, like, every 2nd attack... or less!

With a lack of speed boost, you can't escape, and this build wasn't built for it. To keep Fear Me! at max effectiveness, you need to keep swinging at your hapless victims and rely on teammates [hopefully competent ones] to keep you above death's grasp.

Thankfully, anti-dmg enchantments won't stop it and stances are pointless due to Expose Defenses... They can't run due to cripple and if you can keep up the pressure with Fear Me, they'll be low on energy to remove it again, if they're kiting you, they're not healing their teammates [can't run and cast at the same time... ] When they stop to do something, Thrust them in the arse... [ok, uh, bad wording lol...]

Of course, hexes and conditions on yourself like, blind and Soothing Images would put you out but hey, no build is perfect, right? ^_^

Just out of curiosity, what was it that made you take somebody elses idea from a thread already very current in exactly the same forum and start a new one ?

More to worry about here than Fear Me! spam....

Nobody owns a build. And this is a more detailed version of an idea that came to me...

Please don't start the "This build is mine/that person's build".

It was never my intention to do that.

To say you own a build is quite uh... Stupid?

You're not making money or getting royalties for it so, don't accuse me of build-stealing...

Although some self-proclaimed lord of the builds seem to think other wise...

My real question is, what ideas do YOU HAVE that could make a Fear Me! assassin better?

I'm not accusing you of "build-stealing", I'm accusing you of starting a duplicate and unnecessary thread. I don't know exactly what the moderating policy is here, but most forums I have ever used at least frown upon if not completely ban duplicate threads on the same subject.

There is nothing in this thread that couldn't have been said in the other one, and plenty in the other one that could have made this a better discussion.

You remind me of that ViM person who just decided to post his build in the thread.

The topic of the thread this idea came from has NOTHING to do with Fear Me! in detail.

I want a thread that discusses a Fear Me! type of assassin in detail and lo and behold, that previous thread didn't have that as the title.

Last I checked, duplicate thread titles are bad, not different threads...

If you're not going to help in making a more effective form of Fear Me!, then please don't post anymore.

The other thread I got the idea from wasn't meant for ONLY Fear Me! However this one is...

So what you're saying is that a thread's subject is defined solely by it's title ? You think that starting a new topic, and thus splitting people's posts that would be valid to both makes for a good forum ? Well, seems we have a very different opinion, but neither of ours matters, so I'll leave it for the mods to decide.

And I've posted thoughts on making a more effective form of Fear Me! Sorry I didn't consider them important enough to start an entire new thread for.

Pipe down you two. Play nice or I'll Black Mantis Thrust both your rears .

Seriously, either discuss the build at hand or don't, but don't just argue over whether it deserves a thread of its own, neh?

(1)I think the Chance of Double Strikes due to Locusts fury or Dagger Mastery count only for normal attacks. .. What I mean is that with Daggers 16 and Locusts Fury you'll hit 1.5 times per attack on average. With Repeating Strike you'll cut down your "attack speed / hit ratio". So I would say drop Repeating strike.

(2)Use Furious upgrades. (additional zealous for mana probs, elemental against warriors)

(3) I would think about using Flurry. Your damage will be boosted a bit, and it should be affordable, if you hit.

I think the skill "To the limit" gives you adrenaline or each foe in the area. This could also be used as I am guessing you wouldnt want to "Fear me!" One person at a time

Just a thought. I like the idea though.

Thanks peeps...

Also, that's kinda sad though that double striking doesn't do double adrenaline. It'd make sense if it did actually but To the Limit! may work, however, if you have THAT many enemies right next to ya, uh, yeah, your assassination ability goes way down...

But Fear Me!! supposed to be used by several foes. When Factions does come out, I'll have to test the double adrenaline theory myself, can't remember if double striking did that but I'll see.

Is it just me or does everyone who posts in this section not remember what Blind and Mend Ailment does?

I'll admit though it could be a very good energy draining build, but i really doubt it'd replace somet like a good E-surge mesmer in PvP

I think if you can get double energy from Critical Strike which is a dual attack you'll get double adrenaline from it. Yes an good Energy Denial mesmer will be better at keeping opposing casters from getting stuff off, but Yukito's assassin can actually deal some consistent damage along with that. Also yeah people still know what Blind and Mend Ailment does, which is why I like necro secondary the most for the greatness that is plague touch. Yes monks have mend ailment, but what's stopping Yukito from putting cripple on him again?

None, free and clear

Bottom line:

There is a reason why assassins have control over mobility: if they don't, they die. Simple as that. Anything, and I mean anything, can kill an assassin that doesn't have a quick way out. Well... ok, it will take a monk awhile to wand you to death but, worry not, something else on the monk's team will make short work of you... Anyway... No mobility= bye bye assassin.

So...

Maybe removing For Great Justice! for Return wouldn't be such a bad idea?

I think the skill des. is still off cause FGJ does increase Adren. intake by 50% instead of 100%.

Comparing this build to an anti-energy mesmer won't work...

Name me a mesmer that could generate 4 or more e. degen over AoE using no energy? Warriors can do that if they went nuts with 13 tactics and Fear Me! but if double striking does cause double adrenaline [again, no chance to check it but I do notice ds does cause double crits... *ouch*] then FGJ wouldn't really be needed.

However, if Double Striking does not help with adrenaline input, then this idea may as well be chucked out the window. However, the Shroud of Silence skill sounds VERY nasty in place of Fear Me!, though only 1 foe vs. AoE...

So... Hehehehe wand you to death, that just sounds so funny.

Actually if the monk chucks on retribution and holy wrath it could make wanding someone to death easier. I've seen it done in TA. I was on the other team... just standing there looking stupid.... But that's off topic.

But I agree the assassins speed and mobility is vital to them.

1) I see no res sig, so I pray this is for alliance battles

2) With fear me! being the only adrenal, FGJ is pretty much wasted. Better to have a shadowstep, or speed increase, or heal. Even though you have a cripple, question is how are you goin to get to them in order to cripple them? As a monk-player I never just let melee characters run up to me.

It was just a matter of time before Yukito came up with a Fear Me build for the Assassin (I'm pretty sure it's his favorite skill)...

I don't see any escape skills in that build. I can understand this since "Fear Me !" requires you to be close. You might want to bring "Watch Yourself!" too and a block/dodge stance or Warriors will squish you before you can shut anyone down.
