My axe mastery is at 16. I've read that the higher your weapon attributes the greater chance you have for a critical hit. What exactly does a critical hit do? You would think that if the hit were "Critical", the opponent would die instantly, but I've never had that happen. Does a critical hit mean something else or maybe just inflict more damage? Thanks for your help guys.

More damage. Not sure exactly how much, but it's a lot more.

The Crit Hit on your aweapon is always the same because ther is no dmg range - It goes off the max dmg of your weapon, and like said its like 150% or something like that of that max dmg. SO its roughly twice what your average attack would be.

Also a good note, is that you ALWAYS hit Crit Hit on a fleeing foe.

I read on one of those other sites that a critical hit is equal to the weapon's maximum damage multiplied by the square root of 2. (~1.4)

One way to test it would be to try out the skill "Wild Blow" (Lose all Adrenaline. If it hits, this attack will be a critical hit...) on one of the Isle of the Nameless dummy targets.

A critical hit is always max damage and adds about 41% more damage on top of the damage modifers on your weapon

Assuming your using a 15^50 weapon with customization on a 60 armor target.
A critical would be (max damage of weapon) x 1.15 x 1.2 x 1.41 x (damage modifer based on weapons mastery level)

ha - no that does not happen, but some occasions the enemy gives out a crying shriek, because they've just been hit with a "life-threatening" attack. Try it out on 'Lynx's, or low-level enemies.
