The necro’s video and the “advanced” monks video is a recording of the same run, from different perspectives – in case you didn’t notice

Okay this guide is in two parts, one for the monk and one for the Necro. I'll start with the monk:

Skills:

Prot spirit
Healing Breeze
Spell Breaker
Bonetti's Defence
Essence Bond
Balthazar’s spirit
Mending (+4)
Blessed Aura

Attributes:

13 Healing, 15 divine favour, 11 Protection, 8 Smiting, 4 tactics (Actual attributes differ from that in video)

Runes:

Superior; Healing, Divine favour, Protection, Smiting and one other rune are required (EG another smiting rune).

These runes will give you a total of 105 health, and then adding the -50 hp grim cesta from the "cities of ascalon" quest will give you 55.

As for your weapon I would recommend a Fiery flame spitter with a 20% enchanting mod. More info about the fiery flame spitter can be found here:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Fiery_Flame_Spitter

As your weapon slot 2 you need a wand which you meet the requirement for (a holy rod with divine favour requirement works well for this build.

Weapon slots 3 and 4 are not necessary, they’re just in case you die - using a -20 hp focus item gives you 13 max hp with 15% DP, again using a fiery flame spitter for slot 3 and a wand for slot 4 (with the -20 hp focus)

So far all this information is included in the video.

To gain entry to the Underworld kneel in front of the statue of grenth and pay 1 platinum to the voice of grenth that appears.

Cast your enchantments (Balthazars spirit, Essence bond, Mending and Divine spirit) making sure you have 25 energy left over.
Move to your left and (before you agro the aatxes) cast protective spirit and spell breaker, Once you have cast these spells lure the first group of aatxes. If any "Dying nightmares" spawn you must switch to your second weapon slot and attack them with your wand. These nightmares use "rend enchantments" which will remove all your enchantments and make you vulnerable to attack.
After the nightmare is dead (or if you find yourself losing too much health while killing the nightmare) cast Healing Breeze. After the nightmare(s) are dead your job is to "tank" the aatxes and wait for the necromancer to kill them.

A few things to note while "tanking" the aatxes:

- Spiteful spirit (SS) has a limited Area of effect it will make the run a lot faster if you can "group" the enemies attacking you. This means getting them to stand close together so that SS effects as many of them as possible.

- Aatxes use skills - the ones were interested in are Riposte and Deadly Riposte - if you attack the Aatxes with your melee weapon it will cause them to use these skills more often which causes SS to be triggered more often, Killing them faster.

- Dying nightmares spawn when your agro bubble moves over the area which they are "hiding" in, if you don’t move - they won’t spawn. Watch your map whenever you move and kill them as soon as they pop up. As a note, there are some groups which have a nightmare spawn linked to an aggro of an aatxe, the group of aatxes on the right stairs for example - again try to be aware of any which pop-up

Using the same method clear the entire chamber of aatxes, all the time watching for Dying nightmares, Whenever you move to a new area cast spell breaker first otherwise your likely to be “rended” by the nightmares. Once the chamber is clear you need to move to the point shown by the green blob in the diagram:

Once there, the necromancer will get the quest from the "Lost soul" this will cause 3 groups of "Grasping Darkness’s" to spawn, at your location one group will spawn - the same method as with the Aatxes is employed to tank these monsters however they have interruption skills so caution is required. After a few seconds the second group of Darkness’s will move to your location, if you find 2 groups too hard to handle move back a bit once you lure the first group and the second will no attack you. Finish off the rest of the darkness’s the same way,

Once the chamber has been cleared of darkness’s and aatxes follow the path to the smite crawlers (see video for directions)

http://rapidshare.de/files/16663179/...world.wmv.html

For Necro’s:

Skills:

Spiteful Spirit
Arcane Echo
Sympathetic Visage
Awaken the Blood (Not Vital)
Desecrate Enchantments (Not Vital)
Suffering (Not Vital)
Blood Ritual
Resurrection Signet.

Attributes:

16 Curses, 11 Illusion Magic, 5 Blood Magic, 8 Soul Reaping. (Attributes shown in video may differ.)

Runes:

Superior; Curses, Soul reaping and Minor Blood Magic Runes are required.

For Weapon slot 1 I would recommend a Fiery Flame Spitter of enchanting and a Gordacs Hook-Blood. (Any weapon with a 20% enchanting modifier works fine, i just like FFS because it gives you more recharge on your Awaken the blood)

More information on the Fiery Flame Spitter can be found here:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Fiery_Flame_Spitter

For weapon slot 2 I would recommend a 20% Skill recharge (Curses) Truncheon and a Villnars Glove

To gain entry to the Underworld kneel in front of the statue of grenth and pay 1 platinum to the voice of grenth that appears.

The actual method shown in the video is not the same as that which I will describe - the method shown in the video is for more experienced players, I’ll add another video if requested showing the method outlined in this description.

Once in the Underworld the Monk will cast his enchantments, it will speed up the process if you cast blood ritual on him to increase his energy regeneration.

After the monk casts his enchantments he will lure a group of enemies; it’s fairly simple to kill them – just cast Spiteful Spirit on them (using arcane echo so that you can cast twice). If you take Awaken the blood with you switch to weapon slot 1, cast awaken (so you get the bonus 20% duration) then switch back to weapon slot 2. A few things to note when choosing your target:

- Aatxes have more health that grasping darkness’s and so is more effective to cast on them first.
- Spiteful spirit is only triggered off targets that are attacking or using skills, Aatxes use a lot of skills while attacking and so it’s easy to see which targets to cast on. (Don’t cast SS on targets who aren’t using skills)

Once all of the Aatxes have been killed the monk will stand in the position shown in the picture by the green blob:

Once he is there, ask if he is ready – once he is get the quest from the lost soul, this will cause a number of groups of grasping darkness’s to spawn, again use the same method as with the aatxes to kill these monsters.

Once the chamber has been cleared of darkness’s and aatxes follow the path to the smite crawlers (see video for directions)

Smite crawlers are a bit more difficult to kill as they use smite hex, to counteract this switch to weapon slot 1 and cast sympathetic visage on the monk, after about 1 – 5 seconds (depending on the size of the group lured) the smites will be drained of energy, at this point switch to weapon slot 2 and echo spiteful spirit on 2 different smite crawlers, they should die in under 15 seconds. The only other thing to worry about is the Coldfire nights, however as long as you don’t get too close they can be easily beaten using spiteful spirit.

Clear the rest of the smites and Coldfires the same way (see video for directions).

I can’t think of anything else that needs to be mentioned, though I’m sure someone else will, feel free to ask any questions or tell me where I need to elaborate or even tell me where I can improve .

Hope the guide is useful.

I'd like to thank Dark The Egregorian for your help in creating this guide.

nice job NIXXOR!!
Congrats on your guide completion!

Looks very good, but yeah... I have my own thoughts about the SS part offcourse

edited some necro tips in

Basicly what makes the run go fast is:
- Awaken the Blood
- Arcane Echo
- Spiteful Spirit
- Desecrate Enchantments
- Blood Ritual
- open slot
- Sympathetic Visage (vital for the smites.)
- Res signet

Runes:
Superior Curses, Minor blood, Minor Soul reaping
Attributes:
16 curses, 12 illusion, divide the rest under blood and soul reaping.
(soul reaping isn't that important cause u will walk a while before a nxt SS session)

SS method:

Aatxe and Guardians:

What u do is cast Awaken for 41 dmg instead of 37 with SS. Then u echo SS and cast it on 2 targets and once they regen u cast it another 2 times of different targets. Last thing is just cast Desecrate if u got the energy and casted SS 4 times alrdy cause it does some nice dmg which will speed things a lill bit up.

Smites:

At the smites u cast SV on your monk when all smites are attacking him... again the smites have 2 be close cause otherwise some will not lose energy and smite ur SS away when u cast it. After SV directly cast Arcane Echo and wait 3 a 4 energy regen blips and cast SS 2 times followed by Desecrate. (if there are more then 3 smite groups aggroed then u can use SS asap)
Don't use Awaken here cause it will only cost u energy ant time.
U should be able to kill them before SV ends. If not wait and recast SV again.

Coldfires:

Coldfires are 2 be tackeld in the same way as the aatxe, just make sure you are out of reach so they don't aggro u.

If u get aggroed by any creature:
Run away or past your 55hp Friend cause they will aggro him then.

Shadows:

If u can just kill them or assist in killing.

Nice guide, but I think the title is a little misleading... Ultimate Smite Run Guide would be more fitting..

Hmm... well it will be a lot harder if u try it that way and it would take a lot more time.
Basicly i think it won't work because u don't have the neccessary attribute points to make your healing and damage dealing effective enough.

There are many ways to Solo the underworld, however all are less efficient than dual farming. Some of the ways i've come accross so far are:

Using zealots fire and shield of judgement... the obvious problem with this is the dying nightmares - however if you run up to the nightmares and simply cast a spell while you have zealots fire up they will die instantly.

Another method is with a Me/Mo or an Mo/Me using illusionary weaponry with the normal 55 invincimonk setup, again using a standard attack to kill the nightmares.

Could you add to the guide instructions for the Labyrinth, the Vale, Unwanted Guests, Servants of Grenth, Escort of Souls, and Wrathful Spirits?

Since all of them are finishable with a 2-man group.

A note: generally 55 monks prefer blessed signet over ess bond.

A note: generally 55 monks prefer blessed signet over ess bond. I'll work on that tonight... i find blessed signet to be a bit of a waste - as you can see i never had any energy problems from my video, but its just a preference issue any combination of blessed signet, blessed aura, essence bond, mending or whatever else you may run is up to you.

Edit:
Sorry this is taking so long, uploading them slowly but surely

FFS = near useless on SS nec. Use green items with max curse recharge, theres nothing that wont die under one SV anyway.

Smites -> SV, SS, Suffer, DE
Aatxes -> 2SS, Suffer, DE
Mindblades -> SS, SV, SS, DE

In none of the cases is recharge even needed If it was... well 40% curses is better than 10% all.

The only point of the FFS on the Necro is to provide the 20% enchanting mod, hence Dark the Egregorian isnt seen using the FFS in the video, i'll edit the guide with "or any item with 20% enchanting".

Also i think i mentioned weapon switching? you only use FFS to cast ur enchantments...

More than once have I pulled the Bladed (secondary entrance, The Stairs you didn't go up in the video) at the top of the stairs leading to the chamber
and have had a nightmare pop behind the bladed outside of my aggro Bubble in the small area behind where the bladed patrols. Also I have has them spawn by the stairs to the right when i go up the stairs to the left and pull the first two groups. Defenetily outside of my aggro bubble. Other than my Personal Observations a very nice guide. One I wish I had when i started doing 55 runs in UW.

The nightmares at the top of the stairs, and occasionally in the middle, are group-linked to the aatxe. One aggro pulls them all. Most others outside the chamber are non-linked.

My pleasure. Thanks for the videos i have learned some things as well. But one thing i would like to ask is. Why Have so many points in smiting if you are not using any smiting skills aside from bath spirit? From what ican tell i get the same amount of energy/adren with 5 points in smite as with 11. I run with ym divine at 16 and swap heapieces for a +4 mending. Just curious as to your reasons for that attribute setup. Thanks

There was another post i saw earlier about the effects of balth spirit... to which i have lost the link, but your right - from that i saw that i was wasting a few points to smiting... if only i could find that post i could edit the attribute allocations :P

Aha found it:

isnt it smarter to drop essence or balths and take Blessed Signet because when u get low on energy u can always pump it up a bit. Always when 1 aatxe is attacking me i get low on energy, maybe i'm using the skills to fast.

Can u give any help?

greetz As i've mentioned blessed signet and essence bond can be interchanged, its completely up to you - for me blessed signet slows me down... as long as i make sure i have more than 25 energy at the end of each battle i'm fine... as for fighting one aatxe goes, if your attacking him you gain 1 strike of adrenaline per hit... making bonettis charge fairly quickly, simply tap bonetti's and watch your energy soar

Also when fighting just one aatxe you don't need to spam your skills. as long as you don't cast ps and HB too close together the chance of being interuppted is not that great. If you Healing Breeze does get interuppted you shoudl be fine recasting as soon as it is recharged. His savage slash will not have recharged yet.

as an SS'er, I found the video very interesting. The biggest thing I got out of it is that the 55 monk should aggro close by packs together, and that you can get the quest right off the bat, grouping the first room aaxtes and dyings together.

under 15 minute run is awesome to see, and something to strive for

thanks very much for all this
