Here is a little background information on my character before I ask the question:

I wear Full Droks Armor with Minor Strength Rune in Helm, Minor Tactics in Chest, Superior Axe Mastery in Gloves, Superior Absorption in Leggings, and Superior Vigor in Greaves. I use Victo's Axe and Victo's Bulwark. All those items together give me a total life of 515. When I don't use Rune of Superior Axe mastery, I have 590.

All that considered, is the -75 health sacrafice from the superior rune worth it for the extra damage dealt? I'm about to start doing basically nothing but PvP on that character (if that makes a difference).

The -75 is worth it. I run a w/r for pvp, and let me tell you, the +3 really beefs the dmg, especially with exec. and evis. If you are having second thoughts on the superior rune, if you are going against a good oponent, they will kill u either at 590 health or 515. It would just be slower ad 590. In my opinon, the dmg increase is worth it from the superior axe.

(I run a Chaos axe, req 8, +15%dmg in a stance, +30 health, 10:10 sundering for pvp, and a victor's bulwark. My only superior runes are axe and absorbsion [major vigor])

However, as it is a PvE character, you have a big advantage in this field over PvP characters: rune swapping.

There are two major areas where having a minor is handy: Playing against spike, where the extra HP will give your monks that little longer to infuse, and playing with DP, where you can make up for a significant proportion of it by just swapping to a minor. It hurts to do that, but to still be an offensive character that can penetrate into the backlines of an opponent, you some degree of durability.

So run a superior 90% of the time, but should you ever be in either of those two situations; switch.

(Although I would highly reccomend dropping Victos Axe for a 15^50 collectors pair with vampiric/zealous and fortitude. Sundering is truly horrible.)

Wow...thanks guys. I apprciate the fast and detailed responses. From what you say, it makes sense to stick to the Superior Rune of Axe Mastery. I went ahead and upgraded my alternate setups for Victo's Blade/Bulwark and Victo's Maul to Superior Runes as well.

P.S. Where do you cap Eviscerate anyhow?

There's a Sorrow's Furnace boss with Evis, I believe Razorstone. Also, you cap it in Hell's Precipice.
