how in the **** do we get the bonus it seems almost impossible because if if you split up a group you still get swamped and ghost gets killed either way you are boned so does anyone have any good methods of completing this ?

What you can do is have 2-3 people with necro primary/secondary and have them bring consume corpse/necrotic traversal. Once you get to the fort, don't bring the ghost to the altar. Instead go to the far wall and try to lure some scarabs. Kill them, traversal. Lure some more. More bodies. Get 2-3 across, then go pwn some bosses at your leisure. I'd only use that method though if you've completely given up doing it the 'proper' way

Have your Monk keep his eye on the hero, and everyone else take a self heal or two. The key is to have heavy damage dealing ability - meteor shower and all that. A Dom. Mesmer can really do wonders, too. I did it with guildies a couple weeks ago and as I fired my last shot, killing the last guy, the timer expired - but we got the bonus!

(took about 10 tries with PUGs - no fun)

I was with this innovative group for this bonus on my first Character.

The key was to have a Necromancer / Monk. We first cleared the entire fort of all monsters, including the Enemy Ghostly Hero. We left our Ghostly Hero near by the bridge, so that he would not claim the Altar, and begin the seige. We went to the opposing draw-bridge.

For some odd reason, scarabs were located right on the other side of the unopened bridge. After we killed one of the scarabs, the Necromancer / Monk told us to all let ourselves die to them. We had 6 people die, not including me or the Necromancer / Monk. We finished off the remaining 2 scarabs, and then he used Necrotic Transversal. He teleported to the dead Scarabs corpse on the other side. He then used Rebirth on all 6 dead people.

Within 20 minutes, they had went to all 3 fortresses and had cleared out all the monsters. Then obviously I took the Ghostly Hero to the Altar, and we sat there for 8 minutes. (All the monsters were dead. )

I'm pretty sure there is another way to do this, since this way seems pretty tedious and exasperating.

Edit: Bleh, Fenrir already beat me to it.

If you can't get the scarabs to pop up (I never can when I actually want them), and eventually feel like bring a group with lots offense, and a W/Mo with Shield of Judgement, etc. (skills that do damage to those who attack W/Mo or can be used while holding an item) W/Mo should get the slow totem. W/Mo should not drop the slow totem, just hold it and grab all aggro. SoJ, meteor storm, SS, and more to your heart's content.

Wipe out the groups attacking the ghost as fast as possible, making sure to let them get close enough that the W/Mo can stand on the podium next to the ghost and get aggro before you fight. Have healer heal the W/Mo, and the rest wipe them out quickly. Once you have wiped them out, hopefully the boss group is still out the right (west?) exit, run out, wipe it out as it reaches the drawbridge. Come back into the fort and exit out the south door. Very quickly wipe out the groups with all that offense.

The last time I did the bonus (by accident), the necro brought traversal, but no scarabs. So we ended up using the totem. I would recommend trying to get a guild group if you don't want to use either the item "exploit" or the traversal "exploit" (and even if you do use the item "exploit"). Or if you like meeting people and have lots of patience , feel free to form PuGs, I've made some good friends doing as much with my monk.
