River scale brood
Ah2006
Can anyone tell me how to complete Vassar's river scale brood quest? I go the marker, kill all the scale bloodcallers and river scales I can find but don't seem to complete the quest. Is there a special scale I have to kill and where do I find it?
Thanks

I can´t seem to remember this quest, is it in Pre-or Post-searing?
I´ll try anyway, don´t mean to insult you or anything if I ask you a question that you think only a real rookie wouldn´t know the answer to.
When you killed all the river scales, does the green spot on your radar change to an arrow? If it does, follow it, then you need to talk to the person that gave you the quest
What does the quest-description say, are you supposed to kill a certain river scale? Sometimes the "mark" wanders off and isn´t at the spot he´s supposed to be, try to search for him around the green spot on your radar. Press ctrl and you´ll see all enemies around you, run around until you find your mark. Press L and read the quest description, if there is a special mark his name will be there.

I had a similar problem, basically it wouldn't let me complete the quest, not sure why. Second time I tried it it worked fine. Think the scale moved from the area and then it didn't work. Dunno, but try it again and it should be OK.

If you try and do the quest and it doesn't work zone back to town and start over. Like Tois said occasionally an important monster will wander too far and you won't kill it so the quest won't update. I have had this problem with those in that area before. If you clear the whole area then there is a good chance you will find it and kill thereby completing the quest.
If you try several times and it's just not working then:
1. Submit a bug report so it can get fixed.
2. Abandon the quest and then accept it again from the original quest giver. This isn't usually the problem, but can help in the odd case. Plus there isn't anything lost in abandoning a quest and asking for it again.

What you have to do is hold down the alt and look around. You will see a spot in the water with words, can;t remeber what it says, Click on the words as if it was a person. You will walk over there and complete the quest.

Yeah, what he said. You probably are killing the wrong target. I think the targets you want are in that little field, not in the creek. Happened to me, too.

Ah, I remember that quest like it just happened last year. The quest marker used to be bugged. It would lead you to a dead end near a waterfall.
Leave (forgot outpost name where Vassar is) turn left, go down the hill, then turn right and go past past all the bears. You should find it near the river there.

And the actual quest is just to kill the boss named after the quest, he wanders around the area where the quest points but sometimes it just doesn´t appear where it´s supposed to.

I got out the outpost, a skale came running in my direction after 5 seconds. Killed it. Quest over :P
Haggard
I had the same problem. Couldn't be bothered solving it.

This happened to me in Reversing the Skales...I killed a couple executioners, but got hit by lag and the 3rd one killed me, and as it was zoomed on my body, waiting on my henchies to die, i saw the 'mark' running across the map for no apparent reason...i went back from the respawn, not 10 steps from there, killed the executioner, and tried to follow it. I killed almost every agro on that map, b/c i didnt feel like goin back and never found it...it just dissapeared.

^That happened to me too. Before you could do that quest like this. You left the Gates of Kryta and killed everything on your way to the opening before you came to the boss, lure the executioners and then run out of sight. They would come out followed by the boss. The executioners would the turn back, but the boss continued towards Gates of Kryta, and was an easy kill. When I discovered this the first time I came from the other direction, the way you´re "supposed" to come from and had to kill everything on the way to Gates of Kryta, but wasn´t fast enough and the last thing I saw from the boss was when he entered Gates of Kryta, and disappeard.
I think that they have changed that quest now and the boss stays behind the executioners

In the quest you actually need to kill a monster named River Scale BROOD (not Broodcaller). Many people have trouble with this quest because, yes, he can wander off yet their are many other Scale there at the site so people just assume it's a sweep and clear quest. Once you kill the Scale at the site you expect the quest to end but it doesn't because you have missed the one and only monster that you actually have to kill, the River Scale Brood.
Just look for the River Scale Brood and you're good as gold.
