Invasion of Tyria

Luxons have set up camp in North Kryta, and Kurzicks have a camp in Nebo. Are they here to take over Tyria, or will a war break out between them on Tyrian soil?
The plot thickens.

More likely they will hang out and be plotless NPCs.
The Renegade Healer
or maybe there here for cheap advertisment, just like the character selection window?
Or just a really good way to nerf ettin farming.

I believe those two quests have been removed. There were to make the area safe for the two factions. I would guess now that they are here the area is safe and the quests are no longer needed.
As far as I can tell ettin farming hasn't been affected by this latest update.

One of the NPCs from Kurzicks talks about pretty much genociding against the Luxon. I think either it will lead to new quests. Or a way of introducing Faction battles in Tyria?

I think they'd just add some A/Rt skills to the current quest givers for those with the class anyway. However, there are no A/Rt skills in Prophecies to begin with. :P |

Could someone post a map where it shows where these camps are?

Go north from Bergen Hot Springs. Kurzick camp is at the staute of Dwayna. Head east through the portal into North Kryta Province and turn south before you get to Ascalon settlement. Luxon camp is just down the road.

Im not sure,
there is a character at each site who say they are determined to not let the otherside grow their influence in tyria.

What I want to know is ... have they started befriending the local Tengu?
I still have yet to mosey over there and check out those quests/areas, mainly because i'm capped on faction already, so doing the quest would net me nada. I suppose I'll wait until Factions is out so I can do something useful with them.

"The war between my people and the Luxons rages throughout the southern lands of Cantha as we speak. It's my intention to establish a Kurzick colony here so that we may expand our influence around the world. Shold we gain a strong foothold in Kryta, I believe we can sway these people to aid us in the war against the Luxons."
If you as me, I'll say its an advertisement to get the Prophesies only players to buy Factions.

Remember how they said there will be quests for people who merge Prophecies and Factions? This will probably be where some of them are going to be.

I don't remember seeing that collector (Wintun the Black) before .... at the Luxon camp. He has the energy +8, +15 -1 regen +30 health offhands for necro and mesmer.

I guess I'll never successfully solo the Luxon Settlement quest now.

*cross fingers that there will be a mini-alliance battle in Tryia because Anet is nice*

First Ascalonians, now the Luxon and Kurzick? How long until the Krytans get tired of these leeches and try to get them off their land? That'll be a juicy conflict...

Personally, if I were the leader of the newly empowered Lionguard, I would negotiate rent payments, and let them stay.

I wonder when the dwarves come to holidays to the hot beaches of Kryta.

I think the reason for the Ascalon, Luxon, and Kurzick settlements is that (going with the storyline) the lionguard, getting tired of the white mantle taking over allowed the people to settle in hope to gain a 4 to 1 advantage over the white mantle, In fact I wouldn't doubt that contracts between Liongaurd/Kyrta-Ascalon/luxon/kurzick state that they were to help suport a war between Lionguard vs Mantle, however these (CAUTION SPOILERS) were spoiled by us who defeated the mantle, so the Lionguard Now Kryta itself is stuck with these intruders, but thankfully they have the Ascalonians (leaving out us)and so eventually its gonna be (Luxon Vs Kurzick)vs an Ally'd Ascalon/Kryta in which the Canthans will be to smugg and stupid to learn to stand together before the Ally'd Ascy/Kryta push them both out while there both fighting each other, and in thanks Kryta will send men to Ascalon to help rebuild, and thus the united Ascalon/Kryta both win, Kryta gets rid of all 3 "settlements" and Ascalon gets help rebuilding.

Plague
I imagine the settlements are there so that players that begin chapter 2 will be able to return to Tyria from Cantha to participate in quests there after they select a faction, or something, in the Factions campaign.
I'm sure they want to give us some reason to return.

krytans are traders are the not?
surely they'd welcome the profits that war would bring

With the Ascalon settlement already in this area, is this going to be the Krytan ghetto?

I notice that the ettins will attack and kill the tengu. Fun to watch, and for solo farming you don't have to worry about the tengu. Just wipe out the ettins after they do that bit of work for you. Have also gotten a few rune drops from those ettins.
Morangen
Personally I think its funny to walk the green fields of Kryta and see a giant turtle sitting in the grass (Just dont go to the luxon camp if you have the ascalon encampment titan quest. You might die as the titans are all over the place in that area
).
Like people have said, its probably just trying to bridge the gap between factions and prophecies. Plus it makes sense having them there since ANet said Lions Arch would be the place where Tyria based characters could go to Cantha (at least for missions).

Will there be a Tyrian (Ascalon/Krytan) encampment in Cantha?
Francis Crawford
I'm getting ever more confused. I have a character who accepted the Luxon Settlement quest. He never did. It is now listed as "Completed -- go get the reward" on his quest log. But the enemy ettins are most definitely still there.
I guess going and chatting with Lionguard Niero would be a bad idea if I ever want to farm those ettins with my Level 14 MM in AL 30 armor ...

There is now 2 new quests in LA called "can't we get along" or something like that for more faction points and exp of 2.5k. Pretty easy, just have to go talk to the 2 leaders in the settlements.
Big_Iron
Yeah, they come here and take our jobs working for minmum wage. I bet they don't even have work visas.
Bastard Son
Quests are still there and active. Got them for the first time tonight and completed both inside of ten minutes or so. Easy 5k xp.

Found these quests after the update. One at each setalment. It looks like war to me.

I see there is another thread started dealing with today's update and the new quests.
Just wondering if more new quests will be added before release of Factions. Seems like we keep getting oportunities to earn more faction points, and experience.
